Dumbest stuff? Seriously?

I've done some stupid, stupid things in my time. Although I guess I can say with some of them that I only really think they're stupid with the benefit of hindsight -- so I'll go with one that I knew was dumb WHILE doing it:

* driving drunk once; only about 1, maybe 2km.... really.... dumb. The only reason I did it is that I was worried about my car being unsafe where it was; so I drove it the short distance home in the backstreets.... realistically it would have probably been fine and I could have done with the exercise in the morning.

If I get an exam and there's a question with a lot of space that I can't answer, sometimes I just doodle in the blank space.

Most of the time I just get a red X and a question mark, but sometimes I get fun little comments from the professor.

I tried crushing a soda can with my forehead. Things didn't turn out that well.

I tried speed-climbing a tree. I fell.

I threw a golf club. It nearly hit a freind.

Playing Runescape.

Once I wasn't paying enough attention and instead of backing up the data on my drive I restored the last backup. It had been a while since I had last backed up. That was less then fun.

I think the all-nighter I'm pulling may be a "dumb thing".

But I am getting stuff done I've thrown out some old clothes and tidied up some junk and stuff

When I was 5 or so I laid a rake down on the ground and stomped it so the handle would swing up and hit me in the head, to see if it'd hurt. It did, a lot more than Sideshow Bob let on.

I also once made the mistake of not watching what I was typing during a Linux installation. It wasn't until I started getting errors about there not being a filesystem on the partition I thouht I'd made one on, that I looked back up and saw I'd made it on the partition with all my files on it instead, deleting a lot of things. Fortunately NTFS keeps backups of the MFT so most files were recoverable, but many were corrupted or wiped entirely.

Oh and then there was the time I decided to see what'd happen if I put a SNES game in my N64 Gameshark. Byebye Mario Kart.

Seconded

But the all-time dumbest thing I've ever done was the time I tried to clean out the vegetable slicer at work with my hand without checking to see if the blade had actually stopped spinning yet.

Just because you've turned the slicer off, doesn't mean the blade has stopped spinning.

Holy shit. I thought I was the only person who had done that. I ended up breaking about 7 of my SNES games, thinking that they would play on my N64.

I was a very stupid little kid back then.

I cut the end of my thumb off (almost a centimeter) at work. I was using a curved knife and rolling it to cut up chicken for a quesadilla. I forgot to tuck in my thumb. Fun stuff, let me tell you...

Turned to my friend talking, then when I was done talking to him, I turned forward and walked straight into a pole.

Walking with the same friend to the liquor store, same thing, except the pole was shorter, so my arms literally stuck around the pole while I scraped my chin.

With anther friend when I was a kid, popsicles were 25 cents at my school, and we were going to get 4 (2 for me, 2 for him) with my dollar bill. So I ripped it in half so it was "even".

Psst: They stopped filming for Jackass Number Two already. Not like that stopped Johnny Knoxville from doing the same thing.

As for me... you know how you crazy kids would hold each other up by the neck, thumbs on (pressure points? blood vessels?) until you pass out? Yeah, I was willingly on the receiving end of one of those bad boys.

I at least stopped after the N64 got really hot and shut down and the game didn't work any more.

I pulled an all nighter of partying and playing poker. Poker until 6am then I drove a group of friends from Cleveland to Columbus ('bout 135 minute drive). I pulled over 10 miles in to vomit. And then back to Cleveland at 11pm. Man what a weekend.

-Experimented with a kickball and a tennisball. One on top of the other. My friend and I were watching football and I got bored during the commercial break. I put the balls on top of eachother and stupidly got a bird's eye view of it. *Pthunk!* right in my eye. He laughed so hard and told me it went so fast he couldn't see it.
