Can't sleep.

This sucks so much. How do you deal when you can't sleep?

By the way, please don't suggest sleeping pills. I have... issues.

I go do something else.

Probably doesn't help, but it beats trying to sleep.

I ... lay there, forever and ever.

Funny this kind of happened last night. I really hate it when its those nights when you literally get maybe 1-2 hours of sleep, if even that. But yeah, I don't do much. If its one of those long nights and its 4-5 AM or something I'll probably just get up like I normally would. But yeah, insomnia sucks.

I would love to be able to not sleep, myself. I haven't had problems sleeping in several years. The problem for me lies within waking up; I'm not a morning person at all

Used to, when I actually did have problems sleeping, I'd just do stupidly strenuous physical or mental activity. Either that or I'd play video games. Anything to "wear me out".

Normally, I just get a tablet and start drawing. My parents don't allow electronics after 9 on the weekdays, so computer and videogames aren't really valid options.

Read a history book.

Or any school book concerning a subject that bores you. That might help.

That or Nyquil.

Organic Chemistry. Always works for me. Even when I seriously need to study.

Or you could go the conventional way, lie down and listen to some soft music.

Update.

Laid in bed for about 5 hours listening to the local rock station and cuddling with my dog (say whatever you want, but he's my buddy ). I was lying there from about 2 am until 7 am. I finally fell asleep for about three hours.

How the fuck am I going to work from 2:30-7? I'm going to be a freakin' zombie

I generally don't get tired during the evening, unless I am very careful. I get tired during the day instead. >.>

This is a bit of a problem for all of my Diurnal counterparts.

Usually I go to bed at 10PM on weekdays, school and whatnot. I normally fall (fast) asleep around midnight, and having to wake at 5:30 AM on weekdays.

Not a good combination. However, I normally sleep fine on weekends. I don't have a specific time to go to bed on the weekends, as well.

Well, actually I would reccomend watchin lord or the rings. That movie is so boring, you are bound to fall right over.

Dragon hellfire, did you even read my original post? I refuse to take any kind of pill I don't need.

Long, long story that none of you want to hear. Let's just leave it at the fact that I don't like pills

Fixed D:

Also, I'm not big on the whole pills thing, but... if you must.

I'd rather listen to some soothing instrumental tunes on my iPod. That or anything I can find on OC Remix.

Eh, I usually play my DS when I'm feeling insomniac. I'll play until the point I can't keep my eyes open on focusing on the game.

That's only on weekdays though. On weekends, I'll just lay in bed until I finally fall asleep.

I was trying to make a joke. Seriously, LotR always puts me strait to sleep. Then again, so does nearly anything else projected from a television.

To fall asleep (guaranteed), read Silas Marner, the book we are currently reading at my school. If you want, you could just start reading from chapter 1 right now. At least check it out for a minute or two.

.. I'm surprised you don't keel over at your computer then, Mistar Hellfire. :< (I know computers aren't all THAT similar, but.. yeah. :x)

I deal with insomnia a lot. Not quite as much now as I used to, but.. yeah. I only tried taking pills to sleep once; it was awful, and I'm never doing it again. I generally just lie in bed and stare at my laptop, reading things with small text that make my eyes tired.

And then I lie with my eyes closed until I go from thinking about to stuff to.. not being awake anymore. If you do anything that stimulates your brain at all, it'll be harder to sleep (as I'm sure you probably know). Try just lying there and thinking about something completely random that doesn't have much to think about. Like your big toe, or something. heh. Drinking something warm before you sleep (coffee, tea, and hot chocolate obviously not withstanding, so uh.. I dunno. Apple cider? XD) is supposed to help, but I dunno. It usually doesn't help me sleep unless I'm already about to sleep. Basically, getting to sleep is slightly different for everyone. :<

Good luck finding what works for you.. =/
