The most interesting part of the bracket to me:

More than 5 years after the peak of his Internet popularity, CATS STILL finds a way into these brackets year after year. Yeah, it's always as Link fodder, but given the fact that most people even on GameFAQs probably haven't played the game he's in, that's still pretty damn impressive, much moreso than seeing, say, Mega Man or Tifa in there every year.

I'm surprised someone like, say, a Laharl or an Etna didn't get voted in. You know, if there's a ton of fanboys then there's gotta be a decent community of NIS fanboys there. :\

I can name 50 characters off the top of my head that could take CATS' spot. :\

Also, I note that this year CATS is being served up as Sonic the Hedgehog fodder.

I'm presuming that the previous winners (Cloud, Sephiroth, Link, Mario, in no particular order, as memory serves) weren't eligible for some reason?

I have Gordon Freeman winning against Samus in the final. But knowing my luck, that choice probably screwed up the entire male portion of my bracket.

The male and female winners are going into a 'Contest of Champions' thing against them.

(Notice this thread isn't yet a month old, and I think this is much better than creating a whole new thread just for this)

I've been waiting a long time for the Phoenix Wright Vs. Gordon Freeman fight, because I love Objection and Phoenix is the star.

Sadly, he's losing :'( so all of you that want him to win, he just needs about 13500 votes to win... So, tell your friends or something... *Resigns *

Uly, first off, think of how the Gordon fans feel. He has never gotten passed the first round in a contest. Ever. Phoenix is new to the contest, and will get his chance next year. Second, mrdictionary Objection is lame and got old months ago.

Offtopic: Hey, could you reveal the music codes for that as spoilers? Or even better, explain the puzzle they put there with the codes? Those are stuff that keep bugging me...

Ahh, yes. It's pure, uncut fanboyism in action, right there on both accounts. Even more so than with other contests this time around. And I'm surprised that Bowser is beating Leon on the current round.

Well, my IP changes when I switch off my computer, allowing me to vote each time I reset it (Or something).

I wonder how many people do such things to cheat...

Quite a number of people, actually. It is usually undone if discovered. It could get you banned there, too. One respected user in particular got axed last summer for votestuffing. There was also a lot of votestuffing by Koreans with Diablo and Starcraft a year or two ago.

It's good to know that, still I wonder if my vote will some day make a difference (On a 50%-50% contest maybe).

Hey, it can happen. I remember one poll battle that ended up declaring a winner by one vote. I forgot exactly which one it was though - it may have been from this year's summer contest.

I know the Crono V. Mario battles were always insanely close.

And I'm amazed Gordon Freeman finally won a match, since, as I like to say, he's best known as That Guy In That Game You Need To Run CounterStrike.

Fuck CounterStrike.

I don't think it was one vote... wasn't the closest margin in the double digits?

Unless it was dead even at the deadline and it was effectively "next vote wins".

I do believe it was exactly one vote. Like I said, I forgot which one it was. Emptyeye implied it was Crono V. Mario though, so let's go with that for the time being (until someone gets the nerve to check ).

Then again, it could've been staged. I remember a Wii poll or something got edited so that it said 100% of the voters didn't want one. It might have been something else, though.
