| I was just outside the school going to get lunch and some kid ran by and told me world war 3 was starting. I didn't belive him until I got to the store and saw a TV.
Honestly I think most of the buzz about it is BS. Too many "coincidences". And now they're making a damn movie out of it. |

| I was being driven home from some computer course by mom in the afternoon when I heard it on the car radio; at that moment, the towers hadn't even collapsed yet. For the rest of the week, that really was all they brought on the news.
My opinion on the events had shaped out rather quickly... it was like 1/3 sorry for those who died in there, 1/3 content with how the USA's national ego got slapped in the face and 1/3 mixed feelings of "if anything, that will make them even more full of themselves" and "I don't believe that these events really were so much of a surprise to the top authorities, it even might be, in fact, that they deliberately let them pass to save their reelection". (I still think there's a lot of puzzle parts that won't fit in the "omg ambush attack by evil terrorists under usama", officially accepted theory, though I find conspirative theories like "george bush paid CIA agents to destroy WTC, freemasons will seize power etc." even more absurd. |

I still remember this day like it was yesterday. 
I was 11 and sitting in my history class in 6th grade. At the time, I had no idea what happened. A teacher came in just after the first plane hit and turned on the TV to show my history teacher. I seen the buildings smoking, but at the time I had no idea what happened. Then I realized how serious it was as my classmates started leaving school for early dismissals one by one until less than half the school remained in class. Today, we had a lot of moments of silence for each of the attacks that happened, along with a brief description of what happened. It was a sad day.
I seen a girl today, and it happens to be her birthday today. I just hope noone has given her any crap for this.  |

| I can honestly say I can't remember what I was doing this when I first heard about it. I think I was at home already when I first heard about it, though.
Well, I pay my respects to the people and their loved ones that died. I'm over it, and I'm just getting on with my life while Bush is bombing miscellaneous countries. If anything bad happens, I'll be sure to get away from the chaos and head over to Australia or Canada. |

| I was just getting up for school when it happened. My dad told me to turn the TV on and I watched the first tower burn, saw the second plane hit, saw the buildings fall... I went to school and I was in shock, confused about why people would crash planes into those buildings (I was in 7th grade)... thankfully none of my family in New York/New Jersey were hurt at all. In July 2002 I went to NYC and saw ground zero with my mom (she's from New York)... that was quite a sight to see. The gates surrounding the site were covered top to bottom with flags, collages, posters of missing persons, pictures of broken families, and memorials of all the firemen that lost their lives.
Five years later, it doesn't impact my life so much, but it certainly won't be something I'll forget. |

| Hell... I remember that day. My friends, wife, and I still in high school back then. I had this uncertain feeling that something bad was happening and had no clue how right my conscious was.
Becky, myself, Axl, Zero, Amelia, Alia, and Kate, we we're all heading towards Study Hall, and once we got there, one of our study hall teachers turned on the big screen TV to one of the news after running in from the Main Office, and all the chit-chat just grew silent when we realized what was happening in NY. Becky had a friend who she was coming home after visiting her relatives, and she died. Angie was one of the people who was on the first plane that struck the first WTC... | I know that semtember 11th sucked hard. I know a lot of people lost their lives or loved ones. Though I can not stop saying "Grow up and move on". It was a lamentable event, but it's been 5 years now. Remember it if you want, but what matters is the road ahead. It also should almost certainly NOT be allowed to be a political tool any more. (I was in science class. Watched it on TV, although we retained some professionalism and actually got through classes. Of course, then I got home and got to read people spazzing out on forums about it.) |

| I really like how all of this fear of terrorism and "what they can do next" and all this panic about Muslims or whatever really means the terrorists win.
What's the base goal of a terrorist? To create terror. And by damn they did, by everyone screaming and crying over an attack and all of this other bullshit. It's been five fucking years and at least one-hundred times the amount of people who perished in that damn tower have died now for various causes. Get. Over. It. I swear to God if I have to hear one fucking 9/11 memorial today I'm going to rip my ears off. |

| I was on my way to school (8th grade) when I heard a brief amount of information on the radio. I'm on the west coast, so the towers had collapsed by then. When I arrived, I didn't hear enough to really comprehend what happened, and my mom told me that they were probably referring to a world trade center somewhere else in the world, because our country would never allow that to happen.
I got to school and learned everything pretty quickly, although my first period teacher forbade us from discussing it. Heh. | Yes @ Xk. If no one's life is greater than anyone else's, we should have memorials for other, larger tragedies, like wars you've never heard of.
I mean, plus all the political gain over 9/11 (Bush's approval rate skyrocketing immediately, hello patriot act); I don't even want to think about it. It was horrible, sure, but there's a lot of horrible things out there. |

| People need to quit crying about this, unless their own family died because of it, or they celebrate/mourn EVERY death the same as another. Frankly, the stats don't lie; less than 3000 people died on that September 11th, and more than 3000 civilians have died in Iraq in the last month. So, are you all mourning the Iraqis who did nothing wrong but died the same as the Americans? No? Oh, okay. I'm sure Iraqi citizens didn't ask for daily aerial attacks, tanks rolling through their cities, or the probability of being taken by American forces to Guantanamo Bay without warning at any time. Same as those in the WTC didn't ask to get incinerated and destroyed along with those crumbling towers. It is my opinion that this whole nation needs to move on. | It wasn't really that big of a deal for me. That may sound kind of.. callous, but ..yeah. I didn't even know what the World Trade Center was. heh. When someone said that the WTC was hit by a plane, I was just kind of like "..uhm.. o..kay? >>" Once I knew what it was, and what had happened, it was shocking, and sad, and all that.. but it didn't really hit me too terribly hard. I cried because of the sheer number of people that died, because it was incredibly tragic.. but then, I usually do when I hear about things like that.
Living in New York now, it's a bit different for me. Like Xkeeper said, I could probably happily rip my ears off at hearing another segment on the tragedy and whatnot.. It's EVERYWHERE, and you can't get away from it. ..well, except by ..not turning on the tv, radio, or whatever. heh. But of course everywhere I go, someone's listening to it. It annoys me, but at the same time.. I went to a museum in Albany about a year ago, and they had an exhibit about 9/11/01. I couldn't believe what some of the things looked like.. completely unrecognizable, in some cases. I went with my boyfriend and his mom, and they were really ripped up, walking around and looking at things. They lived pretty close to the WTC when they went down, and one thing they say they remember the most is the smell. Their car was covered in a few inches of dust and ash, and as they put it "You try not to think about what was in that dust." The air wasn't clear for months afterward, I hear. I think anyone that was there, or near, or involved in any way.. they have the right to be sad, and upset, and.. everything. Things like that mark your life. However, I do think that people need to move on, in the sense that.. yes, it happened, and yes, it was awful. But life isn't over, and it isn't the end of the world, no matter how much it may feel like it to the people who lost friends and family. Five years later, you need to be able to function beyond your grief. I don't agree with how 9/11 was used to twist people's opinions on a lot of political (and other) issues, but I know that's an automatic part of any big tragedy, really. .. I try not to get into political discussions, so I'm just going to leave that.. at that. I think that 9/11 was a big deal, and it's important to remember all the people that were lost, but I also think that we should be able to move on with our lives without being completely bombarded with it, and.. whatnot. Sure, have a memorial day for it. Have a segment on the news. Whatever. But not 24 hours of the day, and for weeks surrounding it. If they want to make some symbol for it, like.. poppies for Rememberance day, or whatever, that'd be fine too. But hammering it all back at people all over again.. eh. It might be cathartic for people who've gone through it, but it's .. I don't know. I just don't think it's healthy. .. If I continue, I'll just ramble and not make sense. So. .. Yeah. |

| That day, I was sick. I was in bed, and when I turned on the T.V. the second plane crashed a second later. I thought at first, "What kind of stupid movie is this?" Then a few seconds later, I said, "Holy CRAP! This is REAL!" My mom came in (Who doesn't watch the news,) came in and said, "What did you s-" and she looked at the T.V. and saw it. Then my mom was speechless.
