So, I'm home alone and there is nothing edible in the house. What should I do to get my mind off of food?

The two things I do when in similar situations are these: I either drink a lot of fluids, or go to sleep. Otherwise, hunger never seems to just leave my mind when I want it to.

I do what I always do: get to work on one of the many projects I create in a disorganized. Or make a midi, make some sprite comic or something, play Sonic Robo Blast 2, or chat on the forums for an hour two.

Or you can just bye something at the food store. Depends how far away it is, though. I just have to walk a couple blocks, and I'm already at a Longs store.

I usually manage to scrounge up something; piece of cheese, pickle, etc. In dire situations I head to the nearest store that's open (there's a 24-hour one nearby) and buy some chips.

Water. Seriously, helps fill you up which means it can help take your mind off things for at least a while.

I know, cause I used to live in a house where my ex seemed to deliberately make sure there was nothing in the house for me to eat..

Well, you could always try playing a game in a very diffrent way like, with as few items, or as quick as you can to beat a game. That usually helps get the mind off of food.

Oddly, yes, this can work -- but I wouldn't say every time. And besides, when I used to think that, I was trying to lose weight (I still am, but not far to go and I can't say I'm fat anymore) but now I'm closer to a decent weight it doesn't work now...

I find stuff to eat. You know... crackers, cheese, bread, cereal, etc. Even if it's not much, it'll hold me over until mealtime/the next day.

If you're like me, you'd have given up and not cared.
I say exercise so hard that you lose your appetite.

I still say the water thing is good. If you need some energy, have some cordial or a cup of tea or something.

The water thing is good cause you prolly need to drink some water anyway (even if your body hasn't told you you're dehydrated in any way). Most people don't drink enough water.

And uh... somebody's methods remind me of eating disorders

It's a long story of why I still live at home while going to school more than 50 miles away...however, lately, my mom has been cooking enough food to last a meal since the only time my family eats at home is for dinner. However, because I pull long days during the weekday, there are rarely leftovers. Also, my family went out all day today, so, my mom didn't cook anything Sunday.

My parents brought home sushi

I've not really tried sushi. There was something at a restaurant once they called sushi, but it wasn't exactly much of a selection, just something with salmon and rice...

I'd like to try sushi, but I'm a wuss and I don't like to try new things by myself...

Oh man, this thread reminds me when I diluted milk with water for my corn flakes.

Needless to say, it tasted digusting.

And thinking that you're fat might not always help. I usually only eat two meals per day since I don't get more hungry than that but when I get hungry, it's omgIcan'tthink hungry.
