Play OpenTTD with me! You need files from Transport Tycoon Deluxe to play it, but they are easily found on it's forum or I can show you where to obtain them *cough*.

Also, join my server at 194.47.44.243 I think I'm going to try have it open all day. Though when some of you join, we probably have maglev and stuff if I let it running all the day. xD And password is meow. (Note if the server isn't up, just contact me and I put it online)

I try to tutor people if they're totally newbie too, since openTTD sadly lacks a tutorial mode. :/

A good example of a so called ro-ro station
Pretty chaotic... some old screenshot of a game where I tested the new AI
Some game I had with mike for long time ago.

Also, I set a password on my company just for safety so I won't get things sabotaged... but I let friends join it if they want to cooperate.

Edit:This can be helpful if you want to figure out things on your own...

And after tutoring, I think I should do some tutorial videos. And I'm bumping this becuse of a slight rise in intrest. If anyone is intrested I probably start a new server again.

Edit: Well, there is a server up at 194.47.44.243 with the password meow. It's a coop game though (coop is that everyone is playing one company, and then cooperates) and it's already been played a bit.

Isn't the required program abandonware? Anyway, if you search for "Download Transport Tycoon Deluxe," the first hit is a thread listing all the places to download it from, lol. The game looks kind of lame to me (those screenshots...), but I'm downloading it at this moment. Might turn out to be not that bad.

I just used a .torrent file.

And this game is fun <3, but I can't use internet on the comptuer it's installed on . anyways, nice screenies, and a couple of hints:

  • NEVER take giant screenshots, it took my comptuer 10 minutes to process that , and I need to do that again to show what you can do.

  • Use a custom difficulty and cheats perhaps (cntl+alt+c) if you REALLY have trouble learning how to do stuff, and use the tutorial videos in the original TTD. WONDERFULLY helpful, they are.

  • Can I post a picture here? I might as well show off my stuff... vs. an A.I. that I gave $40 million to (only to have them build 5 buses...)

  • EDIT: Signal are easy to learn and difficult to master, but you should. I tried the first time and failed, ditched the signals, and experienced a nasty pileup. trust me, you NEED them, and NEED to practice before you'll really be able to work with them well. Oh, and trains won't go against the lihts, e.g. if it's pointing towards where the train SHOUDL come from, the train WOn'T go the opposite direction, period.

Zidane: Remember that this game was released 1994/1995 orginally or something, which explains it's graphics. I think it looks better than the rollercoaster games... which is ironically made by the same programmer and graphics guy.

Sukasa: Well, on big maps it's really worse... if you're using anything bigger than 256x256 map size (which is the default one btw), even the best computers is put to strain.

Also it seems like the AI became even more braindead in openTTD... I guess it's becuse some of the new features are confusing it and whatnot. The new AI logic is neat, but it stops working after a few years... it's a alpha too. (you turn it on in configure patches window)

Also signals are important to master. One-way signals are very important in train networks.

There's a newbie page on openTTD wiki, Some faq's. Other helpful sites would be Various network guides.

Also if you feel like you mastered signals, you should take a look at Pre signals.

...also I should try getting around making similar tutorial videos as they are in the orginal TTD. :/ Plus a few more showing how to do some more advanced stuff. Biggest problem I had with learning the game for people is the interface, people just not finding stuff. x3

OpenTTD, I like.

Played a lot of Lomo, and now openTTD.

The AI is easy to beat.. but I do not know how I would fare against you, Ailure.

Are you running on Monday evening / night?

Sure, I probably start a whole new game though since it probably would be confusing if you joined my current coop game with Blackhole89 and XK... which we hadn't played in a quite few days anyway.

Well, don't get discouraged by me as I played the game for over 11 years. :p And I assume you want a competive game? Heh.

..That sounds like me with SMB..

Anyways, I've played the First Rollercoaster game a good amount, and so maybe I'll look into this. The graphics certainly look a good deal like RCT indeed, although I guess I'd prefer the graphics in Rollercoaster Tycoon..

So, I think I may understand the concept of a game a little bit, but would you might giving a real quick briefing?

That looks fairly interesting. If I ever find time to play any games with all the other stuff I'm working on I'll give it a shot.

Well, the game is still running though I have it paused now. Bottlenecks becomes really apparent when the trains goes 630 km/h or so. Also the network have a tendancy to go into a gridlock with the amount of trains running around. (178 trains so far rememeber that this is a one big network too, with the expection for a small seperate one.)

It depends... I had a network with a friend, about 200 busses / trucks and 100 trains. No prob.

But they weren't traveling that fast.

Oh, and I logged on.

Ah, didn't notice it since I were out and shopping. Dunno if you shut off the program or disconnected, for some reason openTTD is set as a really aggresive network option so if you desync or get disconnected early on it's becuse of me forgetting to set the right settings. :/

Well, that was neat... I'd personally like to do that again.. :/ I won't be. That was basically a one-time deal because I got access to a friend's laptop, and had wireless internet in my room. Yay for that, but now I have to wait until I can get a wired connection into there before I can go online again

Everyone just happened to join when I was converting the whole network to maglev, which is why I was a bit unresponsive. Then I winded up playing openTTD all night xD. The server is up now, but it's paused and I probably leave it at paused.

I kinda start liking the alternate trainset I gotten more though, becuse it dosen't turn railway obsolote by year 2020.

Also, to unpause the game just type rcon yiff "unpause" in the console and rcon yiff "pause" to pause.

A savegame with various fun stuff simplified

Might be useful to see stuff in action, and I probably add stuff to it. Feels kind of lacking.
