The ACS stands for Acmlm Championship Series, and is a "competition" run by Colin. Each day the top ten posters (and ties) on the board are given points. The top poster each day receives 10 points and the 10th placed poster receives 1. At around midnight Eastern time each day, the rankings are compiled and posted in the Craziness Domain. "Awards" are given out at the end of each month. Note that the ACS is just for fun and people really shouldn't be posting just to rank in it. As well, the points mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. You can't exchange them for anything. That being said, the ACS has been a success on the board and thankfully we haven't had to ban too many people for spamming to get a top spot. Let's hope it stays that way.

Anyway, I start class on Wednesday. Looking forward to it, though school will probably eat up most of my time for the next few months.

Becky and I had already started classes last week... our professors are being alot harder than last semester, already planning to cram a years worth of information into our heads.

I still manage to keep up my posting activity by using my two hour break between 12 and 3 by using internet in the Computer Lab on the second floor, or during my Computer Applications class that begins at 3:10.

Kyouji: It amuses me that course locations are based off of names of famous scientists/writers/general smart people that are famous...

In any case, school starts tuesday... still have half a book to read and analyze.

Actually, I think school started for many members last month, as well. So... Not quite as big a dip this month.

Eh, both months seem the same to me.

Actually I lean toward Sept being the month where many active or known members start school.

I would make a list to prove my point but I rather not.

So, am I the only one here that started school in the middle of August? I've notice quite a few people in this thread start sometime this week.

I'm already starting my 4th week of school and after the first week, it goes by pretty fast for me. The first week sucks because all the teachers do is go over the rules and procedures for their class.

We're on the quarter system here. And we don't get breaks like people on semester do, so we can start later.

I hate the quarter system. sure, we can get slightly more hours a year in three ten-week quarters than others can in two semesters, but it's just so fast paced... and winter quarter is broken in half by Christmas break... sucks.

Thanksgiving break marks the end of Fall quarter. The we go back for like 2 weeks and then have Christmas break. So we get nada done, and then only have 8 weeks to get coursework done.

That doesn't even make sense. The entire point is to have ten uninterrupted... And that's not even on...

Yeah... I don't make the rules. Winter quarter sucks ass, and our spring break is way earlier than everyone else's.

Um... That would make Fall Quarter more than 10 weeks, right? And that would give you a Spring Break at what... third week of March? So Spring Quarter would last halfway thru June?

We've already got summer session started in June.

It's not that exactly, just around there. Fall ends before christmas, etc.

Quarter System for University of California Schools has end of september to early december (fall), first week of january through end of march (winter), and start of april through mid-june (spring). That pretty much coincides with the seasons.

For year around schooled people, they only have month off for april, august, and december, right?

I still can't help but feel great every time you guys whine about school, and I remember I don't have to go.

Unfortunately, that's always short-lived when I remember that I work instead...
