I have this old Compaq presario 2100 (AMD) and it used to be a peice of crap. I fixed it up and cleared up must of the problems just by cleaning out the vent fan. The final problem i must solve to finally call it fixed is getting the batteries to charge. I have bought a new battery so its not that the batteries won't charge. The cable isnt broken cause it can run on ac power. Thats all I can narrow it down to. Any guesses as to whats wrong?

My old, and I MEAN OLD, laptop used to do that right before the hard drive gave out. It had a battery on/off switch. Does your battery have one? Sry, but that's all I know, I only save my Youtube movies on my dad's laptop, and that's as far as my experience goes with them. (And if anyone can help, why can't my computer save files made in Windows Movie Maker?)

No my battery does not have an on/off switch. I think my new battery i just bought might be dead... it hasnt been charged in weeks. I hope it can hold out until I find the source of the problem.

This is why I don't own a laptop.
a) I might drop it
b) it will always be dead
c) it would be lost
d) I have a think about batteries. I used to collect them

All laptops suck anyway. There components break the day after you buy them. The only reason I want my laptop to live is because it has a better graphics card in it. My laptop has an ati and my desktop has an "intell extreme graphics"
Really, its my gaming computer. I was actually considering selling it and buying an alien ware laptop but i never went through.

So is everything else that rolls out of Microsoft. What makes this one so bad for me?

see if you can get the new intervideo DVD creator, it works much better than movue maker and does the same exact thing except now you can also burn your movies to discs instead of just saving them on your computer. I bet your computer doesn't have a DVD-R drive though.

No, it has +/-RW. Intervideo, I might have it, just probably isn't installed. Thanks for the suggestion though
