You're not gonna believe this!

How sweet would it be to play your hack on the actual console and show it off to your friends?

That's an awful price, though. Tototek has them listed for US$80 by themselves, The only thing you'd lose out on is the five hacks he's giving you with the system, and the SNES itself.

Or you can get one of Tototek's flash carts for US$70, the difference is the GDSF7 can dump carts, and the Tototek cart can't.

I have a Super Magic Drive, so I can run Genesis hacks on my real Genesis, as well as my own code from scratch. I don't have anything of the sort for the SNES, but it would be awesome of course.

So, just because of 5 hacks gone, the price drops by hundreds?

I'm saying that the price on the eBay auction is way too high - $199.99 starting bid, $499.99 BIN is just way too much.

Uh, you do know that you can make your hacks for any console at any time, right? Well, as long as you know some REAL ASM hacking.

Cool!

But I do think this should be in either General Emulation or General Gaming.

Well, the post was originally about running hacks on an SNES, and around here the SNES game that's hacked the most is, of course, SMW, so it's not so off-topic.

Iv'e heard somthing about being able to play hacks in a Sege Dreamcast if it was made before 2000 because back then the dreamcast could play any type of disk. Is this true?

Hah! I love how he makes it sound like such a great offer with the "5 RARE VERSIONS OF SMW!" They aren't even such great hacks he included, if he included DW:TLC or SMO maybe it would be worth it.

Sounds about as illegal as crack. I remember FPI's hack was put onto a console and sold for some big bucks in Belgium (I think that was it). You could imagine most of us were baffled.

old news!
and i really mean it, like 15 year old news.
besides, you can get that very same unit (gd7) and the above-mentioned flashcart for $70 each on tototek.com.

and if you want to have your hacks on a real snes cartridge, my suggestion would be to have a look at my homepage dealing with selfbuilt snes cart:

dw:tlc is 48mbit, too much for the gd7 in that auction.
smo crashes on real hardware.

in fact, many hacks dont work on real hardware.

lol...

Anyone actually read the rom downloading places?

"Unless you own the original game you have 24hours to delete the rom or it will be illegal"

Something like that...
So, the unmodded rom is illegal but the hacked one is legal?

*sigh*

Distributing ROMs is illegal.
Distributing hacked ROMs is illegal, as they are derivative works of copyrighted data.
Selling them is even MORE illegal.
The last few posts in this thread should be illegal.

I've got one of these (GD7). It's a fun piece of hardware and great for testing out your own hacks. But if you were to buy one I'd suggest the 64 megabit model (also sold on tototek). As d4s pointed out, the 32 Megabit model obviously cannot run a 48 megabit rom.

The main downside is if you want to hack a game that requires a special add in chip, the Game Doctor will not be able to emulate it. (e.g. Starfox will not run on it at all). In that case it is better to make your own cart.
