| Too lazy and inebriated to retype all of this, so the following is c&p from my aim:

It is a VERY laid back kind of place. (04:50:14) Astinus 9: so when a chick comes out and asks to borrow a cell phone for a call for a ride, it's no big deal, we all reach into our pockets. (04:51:14) Astinus 9: well, a couple of friends leave to go smoke pot, and she asks if someone will walk with her a couple of blocks to go get something because she doesn't wanna walk alone (04:51:30) Astinus 9: so I say ok and the guys are like, "cool, we'll chill here." (04:52:35) Astinus 9: so I'm walking and she unfolds this crazy story about how she had been down here for a few months from virginia. She and a friend had driven down and her friend ditched her... so she was living out of her car. Which then got stolen and totaled. (04:52:53) Astinus 9: She had a backpack with all of her stuff in it. (04:53:32) Astinus 9: We get a couple of blocks away and she says we're here. It's the front of a restaurant. she looks around and then fished her crack pipe out of a flower pot where she'd stashed it. (04:54:00) Astinus 9: *looked and fished or looks and fishes... it's too late for grammar... (04:54:10) Astinus 9: anyway (04:54:29) Astinus 9: We walked on back and my friends where nowhere (04:55:05) Astinus 9: at this point I can either ditch her and walk to someone's house and hope she didn't follow, or I could wait around to see if anyone was coming back for me (04:55:13) Astinus 9: I choose the latter (04:55:27) Astinus 9: she proceeds to duck behind a wall and hit the crack pipe (04:56:08) Astinus 9: the she comes out and sits on the curb next to me. I had made the mistake of saying I had friends in virginia when she told me where she was from. (04:56:50) Astinus 9: So she's talking about running away from living in a crack trailer and all, then she's talking about virginia tech and how her family is good and she wants to go home. (04:57:20) Astinus 9: My friend Matt showed back up at this point and she assumed he'd been there the whole time. (04:57:38) Astinus 9: from a subject of conversation standpoint anyway (04:58:19) Astinus 9: and she told me if I took her to Va I could visit my friends and she'd pay half of gas and for me food. and then a pause. and then "..and other incentives." (04:58:39) Tommathy: oh dear (04:58:39) Astinus 9: and then she giggled. I think the giggling is what really made the line. (04:59:03) Astinus 9: this whole time she's waiting for "some guy she's supposed to meet" (04:59:10) Tommathy: ah (04:59:41) Astinus 9: I think she realized I wanted to go drink and be around Shayla, so she said it was ok if we left because her "ride" was almost there (04:59:59) Astinus 9: Matt started to turn around and invite her. (05:00:09) Astinus 9: I mumbled "car." (05:01:37) Astinus 9: and then I talked him out of turning around. he then suggested getting his camcorder, doing some sort of shoot in the back seat, and then dropping her off in the middle of nowhere. We joked about it afterward and I mentioned the word "dungeon." Somehow of the two ideas... I'm the bad guy!? (05:02:12) Astinus 9: but the real kicker is that when she used my phone she wrote down my number. (05:02:19) Astinus 9: she's gonna call, I know she is... (05:02:23) Tommathy: oh my (05:03:09) Astinus 9: yeah... fun times, huh? (05:03:14) Tommathy: Indeed (05:03:24) Astinus 9: needless to say I was a bit uncomfortable (05:03:37) Tommathy: Most understandable (05:03:56) Astinus 9: ..."and other incentives. *pause* *giggle*" (05:04:05) Tommathy: haha (05:04:15) Astinus 9: that's definately my quote of the week (05:04:43) Astinus 9: why do I always misspell "definitely?" Interesting, yes. But also disturbing. This affirms the deterioration of society, when there exists people such as this... their life is a pipe and their reality is hallucinating. It's sickening when the weak turn to drugs to attempt and correct their already disheveled lives. On another note, your reaction to the whole situation was pretty standard, I would've probably just left her when she found the crack.  I hope for your sake she doesn't call you up, man. |

| You know, If I hadn't seen the crack pipe and she hadn't told me her life story, I never would have guessed. I mean, I woulda guessed she was on something, but not @$^*@% crack or heroin or anything. She didn't look used, was pretty with good teeth, and clean - surprisingly clean for a homeless person. She was sweet, very well spoken and articulate, and obviously intelligent. I wanted to ask "WTF why crack!?"
