Short posts that lose their context (e.g. 'phantomized') can be pretty creepy, since they tend to feel like they're directed at you:
It can be really unnerving to view zombie posts in the database, especially when they're like the above :/ |

I can understand your feeling that way. A post that is out of its original context could be very disturbing, confusing, or both. Disquisition such as "I love the above user and want to do them" is one such example. There is even the potential of coming across ravage .
A much more scary thought, however, is to find a post that really, truly is directed toward you. Moreso if it contains something disturbing. Imagine. Finding a recent phantom post with a death threat toward you, with your full name and address, which goes on to describe one of the methods one is going to use to kill you, in graphic detail (i.e. "I'm going to rip your hair out and smash your head into a knife. Then I'm going to gouge out your eyes with a fork and stick broken glass in the hole".) And it gives a date for the assassination. And that day, is the day you're reading it. Although highly unlikely and somewhat absurd, it is quite the thought. It might make for an appealing slasher flick. Who knows? |

That's really quite absurd, especially considering that phantom posts are a lot harder to make correctly than you'd think (there's only 4 "true" phantom posts, the rest are just undeleted records)...
It doesn't really have to be very "directed", even something that is directed at someone who "could" relate to me given the text will set off my pricklies. ... Also, you're rather descriptive. Were those your eyewhites I saw flashing at me through the window a few seconds ago? |

Wow, one of my old posts (the one on the second line) helps to creep out someone. I still remember what the context was.
From 32Originally posted by 17119 I saw someone post in a nonexistant thread, and I replied. The last sentence refered to this post, which was originally posted to thread 10000 sometime before UnsurpassedDarkness started going nuts with posting to nonexitant threads. |
