Rushuna did not hear what Josh said. Well, she might have, but she did not care. Agent F had struck the right chord. 'A repressed memory, maybe?', she thought. 'I might have to thank that store guy for having that bad pocky in stock..'

The girl walked towards the table. She pulled down her hood, and brought out a fancy blue pen she had tucked away inside her hoody sweater. Her physical "oddities" should be now obvious to the rest of the room, assuming the ruckus she caused brought some attention.

Grey: "< Relax, Rushuna. Everything will be answered, in time. I've been waiting for this for a long time, myself... >"

Grey stood up, having discreetly signed his life away to the cause moments earlier. He knew from the beginning that even with his refusal it was inevitable that he'd be wrapped up in this mess somehow. What he'd find out, of course, he didn't dare to stare into.

By policy, Grey tried not to look too far into the future: It made things very boring. But in this situation, especially with a girl like Rushuna involved, he couldn't resist just a peek. He had stared, he admitted it to himself, but he made sure not to look too far. Not far enough to change what was about to happen, and certainly only far enough to give himself some information, so that he wouldn't be running into this naked.

For example, Grey spoke the language almost perfectly, with a few minor gaps in enunciation and emphasis here and there. He tried to fit in with the rest of the crowd, but unlike him, they had all led (somewhat) normal lives in this world. He had crashed here a long time ago and lived in seclusion on top of a blizzard-filled mountain with Johnathan since then. It was definitely not what he was expecting, that was for sure... And he knew that the idea of a person who could communicate so easily with everyone around in such a frightening situation would make him stand out. Grey was alienated before Spork even knocked on Johnathan's door.

Faced with this trouble, Grey wanted to make sure he knew what he was doing. It'd be very tough for him to be trusted by everyone else, and that in and of itself would be debilitating. What's more, a single seed of doubt might very well send the entire endeavor spiraling apart. Maybe that was why the agents were so apt to allow people to refuse to help... Even if it did mean taking them by force later on.

"< It kind of sucks, actually. I know who everyone in this room is, but none of you know me. Maybe this will fix that. I do look forward to getting to know you all better. >"

General West ignored the further outbursts of Japanese. Now that everyone had signed the papers, he cleared his throat, stood up, and began to speak. Agent F, meanwhile proceeded to repeat everything that was said in Japanese for Rushuna's benefit.

General West: Several months ago a research team in Antarctica found the ruins of an ancient city.

Josh Davis: In Antarctica?

General West: Yes. Carbon dating placed the ruins at around fifteen thousand years old.

Josh Davis: But the earliest civilizations formed around the fourth century BC... If these ruins are really that old, it would mean they were from the Stone Age.

General West: Indeed. The scientists were quite puzzled. Furthermore, the way the ruins were laid out suggested some sort of catastrophic event being the end of this civilization. The structures were destroyed and strewn about unnaturally. Even more puzzling was how advanced the civilization was. The architecture was in a similar style to the Greeks' and Romans'... And most of the apparent technology is beyond even our understanding.

JD: So why are you telling us this?

General West: Well...

Agent G wheeled a large TV that had been setting off to one side of the room to behind the General.

General West: Among the ruins we found this. *turns on the TV*

On the screen of the TV was an image of what appeared to be a robotic head. Portions of its colored armor had broken away, and, despite being quite advanced looking, it definitely had the look of being very, very old.

MEL: Nani!?

General West: The technology doesn't match anything else we've uncovered in the ruins. In fact, upon closer inspection...

The image changed to one of the head dismantled. Besides the mechanical parts, there were things that looked like the typical insides of a computer.

General West: We found modern computer components that were somewhat more advanced than what is currently on the market. Connecting what appeared to be a memory storage device to a computer, we found what appeared to be several video files, some in formats we've never seen. It took us quite a while to reverse engineer the... *looks at a paper* "codec" used to "encode" the files, but when we did, this is what we found... *sits down*

The image on the monitor changed to what appears to be a prison cell of some sort.

A man wearing a blue t-shirt and jeans, with blondish brown dome-shaped hair was facing toward the camera... or whatever had recorded this.

???: Okay, recording.

Man: *ahem* Hello. My name is JDavis.

JD: Wha..?

JDavis: Though... Originally, I was Joshua Cody Davis. Well, to make a long story short, me and some friends, collectively known as the AF, who have saved the world several times over... We sort of came back in time to try to find some long-lost info on this thing called the "Star Door"

The image changed to a still picture of what appeared to be a door-shaped slab of stone with a bunch of symbols carved into it.

JDavis: We originally found one of these on the planet Popstar, and it turns out there was one on Earth as well.

Some latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates appeared on the screen briefly, before cutting back to JDavis.

JDavis: It turns out these Star Doors are used to travel from one world to another instantaneously. You have to press the symbols on the Door in a specific order to get it to connect to the planet you want, though. Sort of like a telephone.

The image changed again to a still image of a slab of rock with two series of symbols carved into it.

JDavis: We had found these two sets of symbols on Popstar, the top of which is the set that connects to Earth, and the bottom the set that connects to Popstar.

Once again, the image returned to JDavis.

JDavis: Also, the Doors on Earth and Popstar are different sizes, but it rescales whoever or whatever travels through it relative to its size. Other than that, we don't really know anything about them. Who made them, why they made them, how they work, how old they are, nothing. When Professor Gyromite, a human scientist from Popstar who had been studying the Star Door there, and who came to Earth with us to see if he could uncover some info on this end, found some references to a kingdom who had studied the Star Door thousands of years ago, but whose research had been lost, he asked us to go back in time and try to recover as much of their research as we could without being caught. Unfortunately, he either didn't realize or didn't tell us that the kingdom in question was Zeal, which, given our past history with Zeal, I doubt we would have taken the job if we knew... And we got caught. That's where this recording comes in. It turns out, the Zealians didn't know much more than we do. They have a few more sets of symbols figured out...

The image cut to that of another slab of rock with several sets of symbols carved into it. Unlike the previous image, it wasn't being viewed straight-on, but it was clear enough to make out the symbols.

JDavis: But that's all. They don't know who made it, for what reason, or how old it is.

One again, the view returned to the prison cell and JDavis.

JDavis: We're going to try to escape, get our gear back, and get the hell out of here. But, if you've found this recording, it means we weren't successful. .... Or, at least, Gutsman wasn't.

???: Hey!

JDavis: Anyway, please go to the Acmlm Building and get this recording to the AF, so we won't have to go on this fool's errand in the first place..... But that leads us to the other potential possibility. If you have no idea who the AF are, or what the Acmlm Building is, then it would seem that we have been doubly unsuccessful, and the timeline has been altered. It is imperative that you get this recording to the proper authorities. Not all of the things we've saved the Earth from have been of Earthly origin. Altering Earth's history won't have altered the history of the rest of the Universe much, so unless you've got some super heroes of your own, the Earth is still very much in danger. *looks around* Anybody want to add anything?

???: Sure. I'm Gutsman Light, AKA Guts... I can't step in front of the camera because the camera is my eye. I was built by Dr. Thomas Light, but I was eventually reprogrammed and upgraded and such by JDavis, and even obtained the ability to transform into a normal human being on one of our adventures. That's about it... Anyone else?

The camera, or rather, Gutsman's head, turned to face a bunch of people who were sitting around the prison cell.

Josh Davis: This is some weird stuff.

Rushuna was slouching in the back of her chair, with her arms crossed. There was a bit of irritation drawn on her face.

"Ehhhhh.. < I was dragged into some kinda screening for a movie? It's cool and all, but I'm not in the mood for watching something like this. I thought I was gonna find stuff about myself, not some metaphorical philosophical junk caused by a touching movie. >"

A man, wearing a blue jacket, a white shirt, and a pair of jeans that were whiter than JDavis's, stretched for a moment before approaching the "camera". Some features on the man were more apparent as he got closer: A blue bandana was tied around his forehead and covered by dark red spikes of hair.

Man: Howdy! My name is Kirby Neo Nite. I also go by the name as Kirbynite, which is spelled as a whole -- Kirby-N-I-T-E. This body isn't my original form. I'm actually a short and round pink alien from the planet Popstar. Hey, run a picture of my Dreamlander form, if you please, Gutsy?

The image of a round, pink creature wearing a red baseball cap turned backwards appeared on the screen. The creature had short stubby arms, which were attached to the head, and its oval shaped red feet were also attached to its head, which meant the head was also the creature's body.

"< What is this? A rip off of Starfy? Come on, I don't know why my subconcious is delaying what I want to see. >

The little girl sighed as her eyes started to wander around.

"< Something tells me like this dream doesn't have any real hidden memories.. >"

Kirby: Seeing as how this is for the greater good if we don't suceed, which is quite unlikely, it'd be alright for me to mention I'm actually a prince. My dad took me along with him during his visits to Earth. I liked it so much here that I eventually moved here with several of my friends: Rick, Chuchu, Gooey, Pitch, Nago, Kine and Coo. Mitra eventually came to live with sometime later. We moved to Earth sometime in.. late 1998, I believe. For a while, we hung out at this carnival place that all sorts of popular people hung out at. We made some friends like Jeff.. Usagi.. Ness.. Ranma.. Minako.. Paula.. Ryoko.. Rei..

There was some coughing coming from the background. Kirby turned around, and then scratched his head.

Kirby: Er.. Yes.. I think I'm taking too long. Long story short.. Me and my Dreamlander friends live on floating island. We built a house there in the southern tip, and eventually turned that area into what I call the "Residential District".. South of my house, I try to grow some crops. I try very hard, yes. We live easy going lives.. and we don't leach off of anything in the world. Well, I don't. I'm not speaking for my friends who deal with lan parties Hum.. Well.. That's it..

The spikey headed man turned around and started doing a hand motion.

Kirby: C'mon, Yuna.

Off Camera Voice: What? No.

At that moment, the little girl sitting unfolded her arms and finally focused her eyes, through her glasses of course, at the movie being presented before her.

Kirby: We need to make sure everyone gets on this thing, you know.

Off Camera Voice: Alright, alright.

A women with long, shining, red hair stepped into the view. She was wearing a dark red scarf, a black tanktop with a bit of a middriff, and a beige cargo pants with a lot of pockets. She was grabbed by Kirby and pushed to face the recorder. There was a nervous smile on the woman's face while Kirby had a big goofy grin as he wrapped his arms around her. Now that she was in the view, it was clear that her skin really was dark with a bit of blue-violet in it.

Woman: Well.. My name is Rushuna Nite.. It used to be Zeal for a while.. but.. you know. I was not blessed with an enjoyable childhood.. I caused a lot of trouble for people just because I tried to live.. But things had started to get better when I met the Dragon Whisper twins, Ka'ae and Ka'nae. It was only a matter of time before I met Kirby and his friends.. Kirby saw I had potential for things, and aided me in learning ninja arts. Of course, Kirby and I saw potential for a lot of things in each other.. and.. yeah..

Kirby: Aw, geeze, Yuna, you make it sound more embarassing than it is.

Rushuna: Okay, done. Someone else now?

This was what the little girl was waiting for. She now learned she had a last name. Assuming that this dream was actually accessing repressed memories.

Just as Kirby and big Rushuna started to walk away, the spikey headed man turned around and stepped really close to the recorder.

Kirby: Oh, hey, wait, I got one last thing to say. Kirb, if something bad really did happen, and if you're going to try to fix it, be sure to bring that yellow backpack your sister gave you, okay? And also, you need to grab yourself a bottle of Chateau Romani. If you don't know where to get it, it's on Earth. You first need to head to a forest in Europe that leads to the passage to Termina.. Show them the coordinates, Gutsy

The image of a clearing in a forest appeared on the screen. There was a large tree stump with a hole large enough for a person to walk through.

Kirby: Look for the Milk Bar in Clock Town. Bring a hat that looks like a cow. Alright, that's all I have to say.

"< Someone pause the movie! I need to know who that woman was! Is that my mother!? Is it an older sister? Where is she at!? >"

Agent F: Pause the video.

Agent G nodded, and paused the video using a remote control he had had in his pocket.

Agent F: < She's exactly who she said, Rushuna. She's you. It is as the man at the beginning of the video said, these are people from an alternate history who went back in time to try to find some information on the device known as the "Star Door" and accidentally changed history in the process. From what is said later in the video, they left from sometime during this year, so it would seem you were born several years earlier in that timeline than in this one. This isn't a dream, Rushuna. This is real. >

Rushuna leapt up to her feet, and slammed her hands onto the table. She felt a terrible anger surging through her blood.

"< You can't be serious! It doesn't make any sense! Even if this whole thing was real, how can that person still be me if she was born earlier? It wouldn't be the same person! And of course this is a dream. I wouldn't let myself be caught that easily by you Yakuza filth. >"

Rushuna's bared teeth slowly disappeared. Agent F had a point. Not only that, but she was just a little girl. The Yakuza would not bother with someone as young as she was.

She pulled her hood over her head. She sat down in her chair, and remained quiet.

Troy strained his eyes as he stared into the TV screen. The image was blurred slightly in its paused state, but he could make out a figure very similar to his standing in place fidgeting. There was obviously a queue ready to make their statements on the recording.

Troy : Are you trying to say that all these people... and all of us... we're... they're... but I... well, just look at that guy, he looks like me, but that shell's only given to the royal guard where I come from! I only just joined the main ranks in the military there weeks ago, there's no way I'd be able to jump that far ahead in position that fa... well, that is, unless I somehow did some giant service to someone of higher rank than me... *shiver* ...let's just keep going, this is giving me the creeps but I really want to see what I have to say...

Agent F: "I'm glad there's finally an iota of cooperation among this assembly. Let's continue."

He nodded to Agent G, who pressed the play button on his remote, resuming the video.

As Kirby returned to where he was previously standing, he motioned to a middle-height young man in a heavy, dark green vest lined with pouches and pockets, whose glasses shined softly in the exposure light of the video. The boy got up from his corner in the cell, adjusted his glasses, and stared at the camera, shifting his glance ever sideways, as though he were casting it across dimensions. It settled on the place where the Grey that inhabited this room was sitting. The young man spoke.

Grey: "I'm Grey. I'm not from the world that this was filmed in... So that means that whatever happens here won't have any bearing on whether or not I came. That means that if anyone sees this, it'll be me.

Grey. There are a few things that I have to tell you... Depending on how dangerous this new world is going to be, and how much of history may have been altered, what you've studied in your time being here and what I've studied may differ greatly. I just have one thing to mention to you above all else:

Whatever you do, especially considering the world you're in, do not ever, no matter how hard you feel the temptation, no matter what excuse you can come up with to satisfy whatever sick, twisted kind of curiousity or boredom you may attain while being here, do not, repeat, NOT forge The Enlightenment. It'll only lead to more problems, problems that this world doesn't need to have on it. I don't know if Troy will be there or not when this video arrives, and I don't even know how he got to be on that world in the first place. But you might, and just that knowledge alone should keep you from any kind of serious temptation. If you do it, though... Well, your journey's gonna get a whole lot harder, especially for him."

He looked to the side of the camera.

"I'm done. Ganbatte, guys. Anyone else got something to say?"

He stood up and paced to the background, resuming his previous state of being huddled in the corner of the cell, watching and waiting.

The Grey in the room with the rest of the viewers just nodded, and grimaced slightly...

There was a noticable time gap before Troy's eyes completely consumed the screen. He stumbled back into place in front of the camera, dusting himself off. As the Troy outside noted, he was wearing a heavy shell, its back covered completely by red, metallic hexagonal plating. A series of black leather straps tied diagonally upwards across it held it firmly in place. Clearing his throat, he started talking.

Troy : Okay, right. My name is Troy Kiemen, and I was originally a Lance Corporal in my country's military before a total freak chain of events made me travel the stars and get involved with this whole expedition. I know all these people well, and my obligation to maintain the space-time continuum to some extent meant that I had to watch over, and assist to some extent, the whole Star Door ordeal. Uh, wait. How much time do I have here?

Troy glanced away, waving his arms for a bit. He turned back to the screen with a frown.

Troy : I guess I didn't do a great job on preparing this speech and left a lot of technicalities out. If Troy himself doesn't get a good look at this then... well, my point's moot. If this video gets into the right hands, then, well, I don't know what kind of livelihood Troy has. But, do your best to get him here, as follows...

Troy held up a piece of looseleaf paper, completely covered in bizzare equations. He lowered it again, crumpling it into a ball and tossing it over his shoulder.

Troy : Easy as pie. Now that we have that out of the way... more about me. I was designated a Keyper long ago and thus have access to a small handful of keyblades, magical bladeish weapons summonable by sheer will. I only carry two on me on a regular basis, though, one of which I won't go into details about because if you somehow figured out how to use it you'd rip yourself apart wielding it. BUT, the other is one that's more conventional-duty. It was a weapon called the Chronicle, and while having a great deal of power also has a very very limited ability to alter the flow of time. It's not capable of solving this problem, so it's not important here. What IS is that it's a very potent weapon in the right hands. Your hands.

Troy held up another sheet in his other hand of a poorly drawn Chronicle.

Troy : If we screw up, then our captors will have been the last people to have it. Wherever they fell, will be where it lies. You're me, so you should be able to sense it from a distance and possibly summon it to your hands if you're close enough... that is, if you know how. Which is something that's beyond the scope of a 5-minute crash course. Just get your hands on that and get good with it, that's all you gotta do. 'ight? Am I missing anything? Oh... uh, yeah, don't forge things. Forging is bad.

Troy shot a confused glance at Grey.

Troy : I was still intact when I made the decision to make the jump here. That means... that whatever you do, good will come of it. I just don't know at what cost, however... our hope's riding with you. I'm done.

Troy walked out of the eye's sight again. A thud came from the left.

Troy : Man, it would totally suck if my alter ego was a spineless wimp.

Troy's seat wobbled. He lied in the fetal position under the table, rocking back and forth.

SMITHY: MY HAND! It's fading away! I'm being McFly'd!

A bright red robot with a shimmering black visor over his eyes stumbles across the background, holding his right arm up in the air. Another man, with a goatee and matching gray fedora and suit, jogs over to hold his hand up, examining it like a dollar bill.

BOOSTER: He's not kidding this time, guys. He's actually being McFly'd.

Smithy's hand was beginning to slowly disintegrate, and was increasingly turning transparent, albeit at a very slow rate.

Into the picture, in front of the two, stepped a gentleman in a lab coat, with black pants and a black undershirt. Frizzy brown hair shot from his head in jagged spikes. He removed his circular, opaque classes, and tucked them into a pocket, staring into the camera with clear blue eyes.

In time with his speaking, bright yellow Japanese subtitles appear on the bottom of the display, for the benefit of his time-altered self.

MEL: I am Melvin Phillip Gurio, son of Naru Osaka and Umino Gurio, President of the Republic of Japan, super-genius, inventor, giant robot pilot, accomplished marksman, and total badass.

He steps to the side momentarily, motioning to both Smithy and Booster.

MEL: Those two, MRS-01-3 Smithy and MRS-02 Booster, are two of the first and most advanced reploids developed, and were built by my hand. Smithy is noted for his modular parts design, and Booster is build with advanced computing abilities, which make him great for both doing taxes and long-range sniping.

Stepping back in front of the two, he crosses his arms, momentarily pondering what to say next. When it looks back up, it is somehow wordlessly evident to everyone in the room that he no longer speaks to them, but to the incarnation of him sitting in the back of the room.

MEL: Always remember your heritage as a Melvin. You have the Hero's Potential.. never forget that. Me, and thousands of others like me across the multiverse have changed their respective universes in countless ways for both the better, and the worse.. You have this potential. All of you do, not just my probability-altered incarnation.

That is all that is said - Mel swiveled, and walks away from the screen, grabbing onto both Smithy and Booster, and dragging them out of the camera view.

All eyes briefly turn to the mangaka in the back of the room. His chair sits upturned on the floor, and he lies beside it, convulsing rapidly and making spastic movements. His eyes are wide, and he makes random guttural noises, all evident signs of a seizure.

The next person in line to speak was a man with white, spiky hair, blue eyes, and large white-feathered wings. Before delivering his speech, though, he moved off in the direction that Melvin had just gone. Gutsman's eyes followed him as he gave Smithy a strong bonk on the head, causing the red reploid's arms to disappear completely.

Jack: Cut it out with the holograms! You aren't McFlying! Your arms were confiscated!

The man walked back over to directly in front of Gutsman and cleared his throat.

Jack: My name is Jack 1186, originally JDavis1186.

JD: Wha? That's me?

Jack: Like Kirby, this isn't my original appearance. Run a pic of that, will ya?

The image changed briefly to a picture that looked just like JD, except with white wings protruding from his back.

Jack: That's kind of a long story, so I won't get into it. I live on Neo Grape Gardens, the floating island Kirby mentioned, with my lovely wife Haruko. She's the daughter of the previously mentioned Professor Gyromite. We also have a daughter of our own, Fem, who, coincidentally, I originally met six years before she was born. She came back in time from an alternate future to try to prevent me from getting some sort of injury that would eventually kill me because she believed that me and my brother Draco would be the only hope of stopping some powerful creatures that hard turned her timeline into a post-apocalyptic nightmare.

JD: Brother?

Jack: Oh, yeah, Draco isn't really my brother. He's from an alternate universe. We originally considered each other different versions of the same person, but he's got red eyes and bat wings and black hair... And, in his original state his cap is red with white spots. So we decided that we were more like brothers. Anyway, Fem failed and both Draco and I were killed by one of those creatures when it followed her back in time. Obviously, though, we came back to life. That's because Fem stayed around and eventually killed that creature before it could grow up and come back in time to kill us, so we were brought back to life by the resulting paradox.

JD: ... That doesn't even make sense.

Jack: Anyway, while we were dead we regained memories of our past lives in Ancient Fungeria, and that's when we decided to change our names to Jack and Draco, since Josh had changed his name to JDavis and we didn't need the confusion of having three JDavises. I'd say that about covers things. *walks off*

"< Ano.. Umino-kun.. >"

Rushuna slowly approached the twitching mangaka. Her head was still hidden underneath her hood, meaning she was still feeling disturbed and uncomfortabe.

However, she still made an effort to speak to Melvin. The knowledge she had from reading all sorts of stories may have given her some insight. Either that, or it might have given her the idea for a somewhat dorky statement.

"< Umino-kun.. I still think you're a great mangaka.. >"

The mangaka had stopped moving for several minutes now.. and exhaustedly leaned up, righting his chair and clambering back onto it, before slouching down into his seat. He looked over to Rushuna, and gave her a tired smile, reaching over to pat the girl on the head.

MEL: < Ha, ha.. Thank you. You're too kind.. Rushuna-chan. >
