The front door of the building was, as expected, boarded up. Of course, a little board pulling will solve that problem.

Rushuna felt herself suddenly wake up for no reason. It was still dark out, probably four or five in the morning. She pushed the threadbare blanket off her upper body, and pulled her self up.

But she heard something.. "Could it be someone.. outside..?"

She waited a few moments when she heard talking outside the front door. She gasped as quietly as she could and immediately took action.

The little girl always had a plan prepared in the case of an emergency, such as being found out where she lived. After putting her glasses on, she crawled towards a pile of electronic devices, and picked up a portable gaming device, an AC adapter, and what seemed like a clunky action figure. She then placed it into a small, blue pouch, which had a box of sweets inside it. Pocky, of course.

It was time for the second part of her plan. She got up to her feet, and slowly walked towards the back of the house. Rushuna did all this with barely any light seeping through the boarded windows. It was that same light that clued her that someone was standing around the back entrance.

"No... No! How does someone know..?" Rushuna's mind was running rampant with thoughts.

Yet Another Man: Hello? Don't be afraid. We would like to speak with you.

Rushuna gasped silently again. The voice she heard was in the language she occasionally heard. Foreign or not, she wanted nothing to do with the man standing outside 'her' house.

Without anymore hesitation, she dashed towards the front of the house, only to find out that there were two people standing outside. She shook her head, quietly saying 'no..'. She was already spotted.

Woman: < Rushuna-sama, will you allow us to speak with you? >

Rushuna was stricken with an immense amount of fear. She, however, had enough willpower to let her legs move her away from the door, and up the stairs. She ran as fast as she could, stumbling after every few steps. She finally made it to the top floor, but there was nowhere to hide. She had never come up with a plan involving the third floor. She then heard voices coming from downstairs.

A Man: < Please forgive our intrusion into your home, but we would like you to come with us on urgent matters. >

Rushuna: < Go away! >

Rushuna was pressed against a wall while she saw three bodies emerge from the flight of stairs.

A Man: < We are your friendly neighborhood ice cream sellers. We have selected you to receive treats and other things children find favorable, as well as the tester for new products! >

Rushuna: < I don’t care! Leave me alone! >

The man shrugged while the woman shook her head.

Woman: < Please excuse this ignorant fool. Rushuna-sama, we want you to come with us. We have a few questions to ask, and you can decide what to do after that. >

Rushuna: < I said I don’t care! Go away! >

Woman: < We have no desire to hurt you-- >

Rushuna: < GO AWAY! I’m not a stupid little kid! I know how things work here! >

A Man: < Rushuna-sama likes cartoons, right? Video games? It’ll be just like a video game! You’ll have an adventure, a few questions here and there, and have fun! >

Rushuna: < Don’t treat me like a little kid! I know the difference between fantasy and reality. And besides, there’s always something terrible happening in fantasies these days! Terrible things! I don’t want to be a part of it! Go away! >

Yet Another Man: Oh for the love of…

The second man’s hand dove into a pocket inside his jack and pulled out a gun. He pointed it at Rushuna, and immediately pulled the trigger. The little girl shut her eyes and let out a yelp. She slowly slid down the wall until she fell limp on the floor.

Woman: Oh geeze…

Yet Another Man: What? It’s obvious she wasn’t going to come with us on her own.

Woman: It was still a little over the top..

A Man: Well, she’s not resisting us now, so we might as well put that tranquilizer to good use.

Some hours later...

The United States of America. Colorado.

This is where Josh Davis now found himself, riding down an elevator into an underground military base. He had not seen the entrance to the base, as he and his wife had entered it riding in the windowless back seat of a black, military vehicle. However, as they had been walking down the hallway toward the elevator, he had caught a glimpse of a patch on the sleeve of a passing airman which read "Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center."

Josh was aware of Cheyenne Mountain from its use in various sci-fi works, but he also remembered reading that it had closed down a couple years ago. He didn't get much time to ponder on this, though, as he was lead out of the elevator and through a door that led into some sort of conference room. One of the two black-suited men who were escorting Josh and Minako went to the end of the table and whispered something to the man who was sitting there. The man, who was wearing an US Air Force General's service dress uniform, glanced at Minako, so it was obvious that it was her presence that was being whispered about.

The General: That's fine; it's possible she might know something about this as well.

The other black-suited man motioned for Josh and Minako to sit down, and they picked a pair of unoccupied seats across the table from a couple of high-school students. As they did, Josh was greeted by a familiar voice.

???: Josh? Josh Davis?

Glancing over at the chair that the voice had come from, Josh recognized the unmistakable form of a three foot tall man with a mushroom for a head.

Josh Davis: JD? Wow, long time no see. You're about the last person I expected to run into on this little expedition. Don't suppose you know what this is all about?

JD: Nope. They told me they'd explain once we got here, but I've been waiting a while now. I'm guessing they're waiting until everyone gets here. ... Though don’t ask me who "everyone" is.

A sliding door on one side of the room, obviously leading deeper into the compound, whirred open. Another man in black, though this time wearing thin-rimmed glasses, ushered Troy into the chamber, who now besides having his hands bound had a piece of black fabric wrapped tightly around his eyes. As soon as Troy had been positioned into a seat at the table, his blindfold was undone - and he found himself in a room nearly as bland as the one he started in.

Now any regular person would have at least thought about a sarcastic remark regarding how he/she was happy to be sitting in a comfortable chair in a heated room, after sitting in an airlift for hours on end.

Troy was not capable of this.

The best he could do was worry some more, glancing at the other people seated around him and hoping his gaze wouldn't meet the intimidating general's.

It was several minutes later that the door Josh and Minako had passed through slid open again, and a pair of hands pushed the visibly shaken Umino Melvin, still wearing his A-shirt and a pair of loaned dress slacks. His drawing pad was underarm, and he adjusted his rectangular glasses before offering a wave and a weak smile to the occupants of the room.

MEL: Ohayo.

Rushuna sat on one corner of the table, which can be designated as the "lonely corner" in some cases. She did not understand why she was there. Then again, she refused to understand what little was told to her.

'Was it bad pocky..?', she thought. Had she become self aware in this bizarre dream?

She saw a new person appear. Suddenly, she realized that this must have been a dream. Before she knew it, she was standing infront of Mel, with her hoody to try to cover her appearnace, of course.

"< Are.. Are you U.. Umino M-Melvin? The mangaka..? I am a big fan of your work! >"

Hey, you can do what you want in dreams.

Mel looked down to the little girl and smiled somewhat, reaching down to pat her on the head.

MEL: <Aah, I am. It's good to see a friendly face in such an unfamiliar, unforgiving place. What piece of mine is your favorite?>

Buster Robo had only been his breakthrough hit - He had also worked as a stock animator and had created a Magical Girl manga, which had received a lukewarm reaction from general fandom.

Rushuna slightly looked away, bearing a slight smile on her face.

"< I like them all! I am embarassed to say that I started with your earlier work, but what little girl can resist Magical Girl stuff, right? >"

Rushuna slightly fidgeted. She was wishing she was not self aware in her dream, as she is feeling quite flustered.

"< But what I really really like is your new stuff, 'Ikuze! Buster Robo'! >"

The little girl looked up at Melvin. She held up both of her hands before her face.

"< Sanshiro is the best!! >"

At this point, it should have been apparant to Melvin that this little girl was not a normal one, ignoring the admiration for shounen manga. Her hair was a highly saturated red and very shiney, while her skin was rather dark with a blue-violet tinting. And her hood was not doing a good job in hiding her pointy ears..

Minako raised an eyebrow at the girl and the mangaka. Partly because she had known some people named Umino once, but mostly because she was surprised that there were more Japanese people present.

All discussion was halted when the General loudly cleared his throat. He nodded to the other men in the room, who proceeded to lock the doors and place folders in front of each person seated at the table, except for the General.

The General: I'm General West...

JD: What's this? *points to folder*

General West: A non-disclosure agreement. What we’re about to discuss has been classified top secret by the United States government.

Josh Davis: And if we don't want to sign it?

General West: Then you're free to leave.

General West paused for a moment, but before anyone could even motion to get up he added in...

General West: ... And find your own way home. We've made arrangements with your respective governments concerning this matter, and they will fully cooperate with us should you break your agreement. Except for your government, of course, Mr. 1186, but you wouldn't want to harm Fungeria's relationship with the MiB, now would you?

"Na.. Nani..?"

Rushuna turned around and noticed the man seemingly demanding attention. This dream was dragging on a bit. She cautiously stepped around Melvin, basically having him between her and everyone else.

Minako rolled her eyes at the incompetence of these Americans.

Minako: < He said that he is General West. We have to sign these papers saying that we agree not to ever discuss with anyone that which is about to be revealed to us. If we don't sign it, we can go, but they won't take us back home if that's the case. They've made some sort of deal with the Japanese government, so if you do sign it and then later break the promise, they'll both come after you. >

General West glanced at one of the black-suited men that were still in the room.

Agent F: She's just translating for her.

General West: Ah.

Minako: If you have people who speak Japanese, why weren't you translating to begin with?

General West: Frankly, we had no way of knowing if she spoke English or not. We were barely able to track her down.

There was a slight bit of deer-in-headlights look in the little girl's dimly glowing green eyes. She adjusted her glasses and blinked for a few moments. She turned her head to look in the direction of the Americans.

She then blew a raspberry.

Troy flipped the top of his folder up with his finger, using his other hand to pick apart the dozens of forms tucked inside.

(Oh, if they had consent from the Troop to shuttle me here then I shouldn't have anything to worry about... I just wish they could've been a little more gentle... mm, this has to be some kind of hazing, if I just cooperate here I should get some brownie points towards a promotion from latrine duty to stable cleanup! I... well, I guess it would be easier to tell if I can handle what I'm going to be doing if I actually knew what that was.)

Troy idly continued turning between the pages, pretending to skim over them as he waited for the others to raise more questions.

Mel adjusted his glasses, squinting every now and then to get a glimpse at the fine print, as he flipped through the non-disclosure agreement. He had been swindled in agreements before - he had made the mistake of not reading between the lines when he signed the contracts to first publish his magical girl manga. This situation gave him even more reason to be doubly careful.

But more or less, the agreement just read the same thing, over and over: What happens in the room, stays in the room. Nobody else is to know, in any form whatsoever, or what comes next will seem like all of heaven and earth are out to get you.

MEL: <Well.>

His eyes flickered momentarily to the door.

MEL: <It would be a shame for you to have uprooted my from my friends, family, and home, and dragged me halfway across the world, for nothing. Besides, now you've got me curious, too.>

A scribble of a pen later..

MEL: <Signed.>

Rushuna furrowed her brows as she watched the mangaka she admired sign away.

"< Eeeeh? This sounds a little too serious to be one of my dreams. When is someone going to break through the wall with a super robot!? >"

The little girl squints, concentrating on changing the flow of her dream.

Rushuna was quite conflicted now. If she signed away, it could be a trap, and some icky thing could scare her back to reality, and she would then have to deal with the disturbing thought for a few hours. On the flipside, she would be released into where ever they were, and she could see the sights, free of that stupid place she is forced to call home. But what if she was in the middle of nowhere? Or what if she was actually in the basement of that scary building by one of the shady bars...?

"< You stupid meanies! Why do you have to bring me along? What do you want with me!? >"

She turned around and began hopping. And hopping.. and hopping.. Trying to take off into the air...
