MEL: We have absolutely no leads on where to start looking for information about the Star Gate, and even moreso, I don't think there's really any other civilizations around at this point that would have, or have the capability to use the Star Gate. If there even could be another civilization out here in this blizzard.

Mel cupped his chin from beneath a pocket of warped light.

MEL: Now we can either start wandering around aimlessly and look for the teleporters, or we can try and find some way to disperse the storm. Smithy, what'd you bring with you today?

SMITHY: I know exactly what you're thinking, but the unexpected venue caught me a little off guard, too. I packed the Venier Armor, Vernier Walkers, the F-Type Arms, and some Hawaiian-print shorts.

Kirby: Or.. we can keep walking and head towards the temple that's supposed to be where the Star Door was supposed to be. If we go up to Zeal, we won't be able to hide very well with the cloaking devices, not atleast in this time period.

Kirby let out a sigh and shook his head.

Kirby: Look, Melvin, just take my word. We need to keep moving. Going up to Zeal is not an option. And the blizzard has to stay. It'll give away our position since, you know, there's supposed to be a constant blizzard down here.

Kirby: If I could see you, I'd hit you.

Rushuna: I think we are supposed to keep walking in this direction?

Kirby: Yeah, we should be more than two thirds of the way.. so.. patience.

Grey: "I'm getting more and more impatient by the second, man... All of us know how to move faster than walking or could carry the rest, why do we have to trudge about like this?"

He pointed up into the clouds...

"Zeal's miles in the air, if this is the Zeal I know of. They can't see or detect us this far, especially not under cover of the blizzard here. And the Zealians, as far as I know, are either in that tower or in the Black Omen, which is so far under the sea that even if they could detect us, they couldn't get here fast enough to do anything about it, and we'd be passed off as nothing more than blips on the radar, unnoticed and unaltering of the time stream."

He pointed, completely unbenknownst to anyone else, to his cloaking device.

"And the worst part of it all is that even out here in this blizzard, where even I can barely see ten feet in front of my face, we're still wasting the battery power on these devices! What if there's an emergency and one of us gets stuck inside of Zeal?"

Kirby: I don't imagine we're going to be going up to Zeal, but I know what you mean. The Professor is from Popstar, so if he's gonna make important device, he's gonna give it a long lasting batterylife... Besides, paranoid JD here isn't going to let us do anything but this.

Rushuna: K-Kirby.. I..

Kirby heard a thud, as loud as it can be on snow, behind him.

Kirby: Yuna? Yuna?

Rushuna: It.. is.. c-cold..

Kirby spun around and looked down. He noticed a dent in the snow quickly kneeled down beside it.

Kirby: Stupid coat didn't do anything... Hold on, Yuna!

For a moment, what seemed to be a large, red quilt flickered before everyone's eyes, and disappeared just as fast. Kirby placed the quilt on Rushuna, and then lifted her off the ground. He was shocked to feel how cold she was. He let out a sigh and continued walking towards the temple.

Kirby: JD, I'm letting you know right now. After we're done with the pictures, I'm going to let loose one of my Clow Cards the moment we're out of the temple.

Troy : Barbli...

Keele : QUIT that! If this is one of the Old Civilizations, then they could probably detect any large outburst of mana from hundreds of miles away!

Troy : But...

Keele : I'm glad at least one person here agrees with making our visit as subtle as possible.

Troy : "Library".

Keele : ...did I say library?

Troy : Yes, yes you did. And we're not going there.

Keele : ...my intellectual side is getting the better of me. Hit me, please.

In one swift motion Troy drew his keyblade out of thin air and bludgeoned Keele to the ground, rendering him unconscious.

Troy : Well, he's outlived his usefulness.

Gutsman: Based on the structure of the temple, it should be warm inside even with it being like this out here.

JDavis: Shhh, we're here.

And indeed, they had arrived at the steps of the temple.

From the outside, the temple seemed rather like the Parthenon, even though the Parthenon wouldn't be built for over eleven thousand years. Large stone columns went all the way around the outermost part of the structure, inside of which was the actual outermost wall. In the center of this wall was an open doorway.

JDavis had apparently moved over to this doorway and looked around inside, as he now said to everyone else, in a hushed voice...

JDavis: Come on, the coast is clear.

Inside the entry room of the temple it was much warmer. Not exactly room temperature, but not so cold as to cause one to shiver, either

This room was lined with the same columns as the outside of the temple, marking a path to the door on the other end.

JDavis: Okay, the Star Door room is through that door. If anywhere, that's where we might run into people. It's also where the stuff we're actually interested in is most likely to be. So, is everyone ready?

Troy : If there's any more than a few people in there, it might be difficult to herd this entire crowd inside, even if we are invisible. Maybe we should send one or two people in first to gauge the situation.

Rushuna: Kirby... Put me down by the corner..

Kirby: Yuna..?

Rushuna: I will be fine. You warmed me up enough. I can stay here. Please, you know I can take care of myself.

Kirby: Okay.. Just be sure to be alert.

Kirby, already inside, walked over to a corner by the entrance, and was about to carefully place Rushuna on the ground when he felt her jump off. He was a bit surprised, but he was glad. He turned around, and started to walk where he thought JD was. He then kept his distance, assuming someone from behind might not have known when to stop moving..

Kirby: Ready, I guess... We shouldn't split up too much.. I'm sure we can use the others as scouts or something.

((Sorry C'aos and Mel, but I'm going to have to DENY (and when I get around to it, if you don't, delete) those posts. We've already established that the cloaking devices are activated by a button, have two settings (cloaked and not, no in-between... Well, except the eyes, which are only partly cloaked so that we can see, and they're cloaked enough that we'd have to be in a very well lit room for someone to even begin to be able to notice them), and that we've all been cloaked since before we left the cave (so you can neither turn the cloak on now nor can Smithy see Melvin). Also, I didn't really make this clear, but there's not actually a door between us and the next room, just a doorway. In any case, on with the actual post..))

A voice came from the room ahead of everyone.

Jack: You guys coming?

JDavis: Well, I guess the coast is clear then?

Jack: Clear as us.

Entering the room, the first thing everyone noticed was the Star Door, just as it was in the photo that Gyromite had shown them... Well, except the temple wasn't AS dilapidated as in that photo. There were a couple of tables in the room, but they seemed new and out of place. Those among our heroes who had visited Zeal would recognize them as being in the same style as most Zealian furniture. There were various papers lying on them, all written in Zealian, but one table had a big stone slab resting on it with several series of symbols carved into it. There was a second doorway in the back of the room, which seemed to lead to sort of hallway, but that it.

JDavis: Alright, we're going to have to decloak to take the photos. Jack, you stay cloaked and watch for anybody that might come through that back door. Guts, you do the same for the one we just came through. Everyone got it? Good.

And with that, JDavis decloaked and started aiming the wrist-end of the cloaking device at the various papers and such lying on the tables, pressing a smaller button on the side which was labeled "camera" so as to take pictures.

Troy was knelt down at the counter closest to the second door, running his fingers across a beige piece of paper. It had a rough surface and crinkled easily, obviously not created by means familiar to him.

Troy : (I can't help but think these symbols are like... nah, that's WAY too coincidental...)

Slowly he draped his hand over the edge of the table, pulling open a drawer. It was barren except for a pair of clear tubes, also made from some unknown material, that sat in a receptacle. One was empty while the other was full of a murky red liquid. Troy reached out to pick it up, but jerked his hand back, mentally slapping himself.

Troy : (...think... anything you do here could have consequences... this is not a place for curiosity...)

Mel stared down at the vial of murky red liquid.

MEL: Smithy.

SMITHY: Yo!

Smithy walked over to Mel, joining him at staring down into the liquid.

MEL: Five bucks says you can't drink all of that.

Melvin soon feels a tingly sensation on his shoulder.

Kirby: If you don't put that back, you're going to be blessed with light. I would've gone with fire or ice as a threat, but that leaves a mess behind.

Beside Mel, the vial of red liquid picks itself up, floats upside down in the air, and empties itself out.

MEL: Oh shit.

SMITHY: Not bad. n_n

Mel grumbles, and plucks a five-dollar bill out of his wallet, holding it out in midair until it is plucked away by Smithy's invisible hand.

JDavis stopped photographing the paperwork and glared at Smithy's presumed location.

JDavis: You'd better feel damned lucky that you're a reploid and we can easily and relatively painlessly drain that back out of you...

Jack: GUYS, SOMEONE'S COMING!

JDavis: Shit. Everyone, cloak yourselves and hide along the walls and in the corners!

...

A moment later, once everyone had done as JDavis said, two Zealian researchers walked in through the back door. They wore purple robes with orange trim and sleeves, and seemed to be in the middle of a conversation.

Researcher 1: ...So he says "The jester can stay, but the Nu in the Kilwala suit has to go!"

Researcher 2: Haha.

The two stopped for a moment and stared at the Star Door.

Researcher 2: It never ceases to amaze me, this door to the stars. Who could have built such a device? And what was its original purpose?

Researcher 1: Perhaps we shall soon find a world that knows the answers to those questions.

Researcher 2: Still, it is a bit disconcerting that the ones we've managed to connect to so far have held no knowledge of it... Some didn't even have inhabitants.

Suddenly, the second researcher notices the empty vial.

Researcher 2: I thought I told you not to leave your empty vials lying around.

Researcher 1: Odd, I could have sworn I put it in the drawer next to the other one...

The first researched started to walk towards the empty vial, but stopped when his foot hit something slick. As he looked down to see what it was, so did the other researcher and our heroes.

Wet foot prints.

The two researchers glanced at each other for a moment, then quickly followed the path of the footprints with their eyes, leading them to be looking exactly where our heroes were hiding.

Researcher 2: Lightning!

Bolts of lightning shot out of both researchers' hands, aimed at our heroes. The cloaking devices bent the electricity around our heroes just as it was doing with the light, but this act seemed to be too much for them and they immediately shorted out.

No longer hidden, our heroes seemed to be frozen in panic for a moment, staring at the Zealian researchers who, in turn, seemed to be similarly frozen and staring at our heroes. Finally, JDavis managed to say the only word that could pop into his head.

JDavis: RUN!

Kirby quickly pulled out a Deku Nut from within his backpack, and hurled it infront of him, startling the researchers even more. He then lunged forward, and plowed through both, knocking the Zealians onto the ground.

He then rushed towards the doors, and began fiddling with his cloaking device.

Kirby: Damnit, it's out.

Without any hesitation, nor even waiting for his slower comrades to keep up, Kirby rushed through the doors, and ran down the halls. Thanks to his speed, he was already at the front doors, and kicked one open. He stood by the door while the harsh winds from outside whistled through the opening.

He stared down the hallway, waiting for the others to run out the door.

Kirby: Matte kudasai...

As the crowd quickly dispersed, and the yelling slowly faded away as everyone careened down the exit hallway, Keele slowly raised his head over the side of Troy's counter. He slowly began chanting under his breath, ready to phase himself outside, when he spotted a red stain inside the open drawer. He rubbed his finger against it and sniffed it.

Keele : ...blood?

********

Troy hurled himself outside, screeching to a halt as he remembered where he was. The wind was still throwing the snow around, and he stood in the middle of it, with nothing but the rocky hills they came from in the distance.

Troy : They'll be able to see our footprints out here, there's nothing but sn... ah, that's EXACTLY the problem... snow!

Troy jabbed his keyblade into the ground. If it were visible, it would have turned a bright blue as it made the snow around him even colder. It congealed, masking the footprints of him and everyone ahead of him.
