I thought you said "with thunder booms".

Rain makes me cozy. It also makes me yawn as much as I do in church. Also, the smell of rain is great. I might stick my head outside for 5 minutes... And end up with end a cold. (something's up with my usage of words today) Thunderstorms make me laugh. It's funny at schools, since most of of the girls have the ability to laugh when they scream from fear. Whenever PE ends, and a thunderstorm is happening, most people will just run to their next classes. What about me? I just shove my hands in my pockets, and slowly walk to my next class. I enjoy seeing people freaking out about virtually nothing.

I still remember the storm we had here in the northern bay area. (that's north of the San Francisco bay for those who don't know) It rained for a couple of weeks, and there was some massive flooding in various areas... Except the one little spot where we live. It was the main subject of any smalltalk whatsoever.

I also like making fun of trees that fall from a storm.

Ugh, I can't stand the smell of rain. Probably because I live in Florida where it rains way too much for my tastes. And it looks like Tropical Storm Ernesto is going to dup a million buckets more on us come Wednesday.

I unplug mine because we have no ground in my room, so not doing so is rather stupid

I leave mine plugged in because I don't really care. What are the odds, anyway? It's never happened to me before

Besides, that's what the laptop is for.

sandrock: I know what ya mean. I've been in Jacksonville my whole life. I've sat through (seemingly)hundreds of hurricanes, and I even decided to bike through a few of them.

Let's just say the thunderstorm I'm posting from within is boring.

And also really annoying because it seems to be messing up dialup every few minutes.

I like thunderstorms anyway, especially in hurricanes. They're boring at times, but when the clouds are moving around and creating twisters(not tounching the ground usually), they are awesome to watch.

I have never had to unplug anything of mine because I'm lucky; only other electrical devices my family owns seems to get fried, and my own stuff has been safe every time.

I only unplug for the massive OMGWTF ones. Other times I tend to just ignore them.

Well yeah, if lightning was actually hitting in the yard I'd probably unplug. After I recovered from the massive noise.

Speaking of... my friend Trey and I were almost struck by lightning one day when we were running in the rain. Knocked us on our asses.

As far as lightning goes, I have lost far more equipment through phone lines then electrical outlets. Friggin' lightning capital of the world and they can't put better protection on the phone lines. Of course that problem is moot now that I'm on cell phone and cable internet.

The lighting didn't hit you and you were still knocked down?

I'm not making fun, I just didn't know lightning had that kind of.....force...

Scary, but cool.

I think the knockback was part animal instinct sensing the charge in the air, part thunderclap, and part "HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The closest a thunderbolt has ever come near me is across the street...

Which is only... I dunno, 25 yards away.

It was loud... and bright.

I don't think I've ever been close enough to lightning to actually feel threatened... it's been close (like striking maybe 1/2 a mile away) but never on my driveway or in front of me or anything like that.

I sure could use lightning or something around now, stupidly hot days give me a headache.

Which is all that we've had for like, the last month. I miss my Washington rain.

As for lightning, I've never had anything near me.. At least not to my knowledge.

Bad things happen when it rains here. I hydroplaned/burnout/pissed off people this morning at the end of my road, it was pouring down. I slide all the way into my lane, and the dude behind me flipped me the finger, so I flipped him a bird back. Wild morning here.

Next time, spin a 360 entering the lane. Let me know how that goes.

Most I've ever done in the rain was about a 270 before the tree stopped me.

It wasn't that I was going fast, it was the fact that I stopped in a puddle. Not too good. Anyway, no big deal. Parent aren't mad cause they've done it before. I guess I learned from doing stupid sh*t like playing with matches, I can learn from this. Don't pull out in front of someone in the rain.

I've never had a problem with my computer (Except for the obvious powerloss in a big storm) when it comes to thunderstorms. My surge protector helps with that.

I think it disconnects the main line to the other outlets when it's overloaded, but I don't really know how it works exactly.
