| I just wondering is it possibe to add in extra letters into an AW2 (US) gba rom?
So to add letters like é, á, £ etc. I know we can edit them but it would be more cool if we can add in extra ones. |

Well, you always can add in additonal letters if you (a) add the graphics for them and, if the ROM uses internal compression tables for the text, (b) code additional table entries for the new letters into the ROM. Don't know if anybody has done that yet to AW2 though. |

| I have no idea what AW2 refers to so I'll give you a generic answer:
If the game is translated from Japanese, it's likely that the Japaese character graphics and codepoints were left in. You can then overwrite one of these with your new character. If those characters are 1-byte, so much the better. I myself went a bit nuts with this when making my Extra Innings 2 translation. I added Ö (Paul Erdos and Kurt Godel), Ü, ñ, Ø (Søren Kierkegaard), Ř (Antonin Dvořak), and then single characters for de, da, van, von, and ibn. There were over 100 kana left unused, leaving plenty of space for innovation! |

The problem is thanks to the 11 September attack on the Twin Towers, AW1 never got released in Japan and nearly got taken off the market in the USA. When AW2 came out it never got released in Japan. It finally got released in 2004 know which had AW1 and 2 in. Which means AW2 was made in English first. But In the AW2 I have found refernces to the Japanease COs name e.g. Lash = Cat, Flak = Kong, Andy = Ryo etc. So they might have been made in Japan but they didn't bother releaseing it. So that might be a sign there's Japnease text in there  . *goes to look* |
