Yep...as of approximately 3:00PM yesterday, I am wisdom-free. 
The procedure itself was an absolute piece of cake, and I remember very little of it...though I think recovery might be a different story. 4 hours between pills is way too long. 
On the bright side, though, I already seem to feel much better overall. One of the teeth was broken in half (owwies!), and the other three had cavities of varying severity, which were probably sending an assortment of lovely toxins into my bloodstream. 
Anyone have any tips for a smooth, speedy recovery? I go back to work on Wednesday, and I can't really afford to call in sick... |

You poor thing  I know of a few people in real life who had to get their wisdom teeth pulled, and they just simply said, and I quote: "2-3 days of living hell." I have yet to get my pulled, but I most likely will before/after I get my braces off.
If that's true, the first day will be living hell, second day will be bearable, and third day will be semi-painful. The only tip I can give you would probably be to bear with it, as it shouldn't hurt for long 
(god all this recent talk about wisdom teeth being pulls is scaring the crap out of me  ) |

Poor you. When they took mine out, I didn't had any pain, though it bleed like hell. I guess I had a good doc doing it. 
For smooth and speedy recovery...there aint really much tips for it. Just dont eat any hard things and try not to go too much because of the nerves, etc. Just let them heal while you're in bed or whatever. |

I think sedation is a lot more expensive than local anesthetic, but I have pretty good insurance (I only paid ~$260 out of pocket for the whole procedure), and there's no way I could consciously deal with the sounds and sensations of tooth being ripped from bone.
The only pain I've really had is a dull ache in my jawbones, and a couple of tender spots where I vaguely remember a needle being inserted (though the hydrocodone takes care of all that nicely). It's not so bad as long as I keep my tongue away from there, but I can't resist fondling the empty holes I'll never have to worry about again. |

Mine were popped out two weeks ago... well 15 days technically 
For anyone that remembers (my custom title and IRC chats), I said knockout drugs are amazing...
Anyways... BMF, youre going to want to keep ice on your jaw for a few days... the swelling is not really fun (And it doesnt look cool either). Milkshakes are your best friend as well... Dont drink through straws for a while either... dry sockets are HORRIBLE to get. SNN: Its really nothing to flip about... I went crazy the day before my surgery... compared to some of the wipeouts ive had on my bike, this was no where near as scary... |

I have had my wisdoom teeth for about two years now, but they're not problematic so I might not have them pulled. |

| I actuallly asked if they gave you any sedation when they said I needed mine out and they were kind enough to say that no, they don't. I'm pretty sure they just give you the needle in gums and then rip 'em out.
Which is exactly why I have utterly and completely refused to get mine done. They don't cause any problems afaict, so why bother if it's just more senseless pain and aching? |

| Aye. Because I've never gone to the dentist, my teeth have bunched up towards the front and resemble shark teeth. Thanks to a 70 dollar electric toothbrush, they're shiny and white. There's enough room for Wisdom teeth.
I'm gonna keep them, since, after all, the doctor would probably freak out to find the saw-like arrangement that is my front of my mouth. |

Just depends on the person I guess. As for tips ... well, really what could you do anyways?

| Xk: You'd be in the same boat I was in. Basically they WILL freeze you several times with needles, and wait 10 minutes for that to kick in - your mouth will feel extremely numb. You'll hear the cracking and stuff (), but at the same time you won't feel any pain. A little bit of pressure, like if someone pressed down on your tooth, but nothing more.
When the freezing wears off, you'll be sore. You'll probably have to alternate between hot/cold compresses. The first two days are the worst and then it gets better. You can live off pudding. |

| Really? When I got mine pulled, I was up and about that afternoon. Sure, I had my mouth filled with paper towels that day, but that afternoon I was eating solid foods and could stop taking my paink killers. But I didn't stop taking 'em |

I have braces right now, and my teeth aren't horribly crooked, and my orthodonist said I probably won't need them pulled, but he's unsure, and I'm uneasy. 
No matter how you made it sound, I still don't like the concept of them pulling my wisdom teeth. Also, I almost died of cancer as an infant, so last time I had to be put to sleep for a surgery (and the first time since I was a year old), I was really scared when I smelled the gas and remembered it. I would just not like the gassing part, and the intolerable pain the first day, if I had my wisdom teeth pulled. ...Who would've known BMF ACTUALLY had a life outside his little computer world? I didn't. |

| The only real reason for dental surgery is for the knock out gas!
I managed to dupe my dentist into giving me some when she did my cavities last time. The second cavity I had to get drilled the anesthetic didn't work so I was feeling the whole thing. Jesus Christ ouch. |

| When they took mine out it hurt like CRAZY! Probably because they werent even coming in, they were still deep down. However, the doctor decided it was time for them to come out. I was in some killer pain for days afterwards. Spent the entire time watching Tv and playing FF-X2, I beat it in 2 days. YEAH BABY!!!! |
