That actually worked with the Sonic 2 beta forum (formerly simon wai's). We actually should consider that in the future if approval becomes to tedious for the admins.

VL-Tone has already said that he has found no signs of Luigi at all while he has been decoding the game. The only beta stuff he has found are a Yoshi egg and a metallic wing cap texture. So no matter how hard you look, you will not be able to find Luigi.

prut96, you can download VL-Tone's ROM extender here. You will have to supply your own ROM.

Bahh I should be the one that's sorry not to have put that in the hack info doc.

About Tile Molester, I guess that an endian issue when its ran on a PPC actually "fixes" the byte order problem for me an Raccoon Sam :/

It's a little too late for me to make the editor deal with a byte-swapped ROM. Maybe you could byte-swap it, do the texture changes and de-swap the bytes after. But that would be a pain...

I guess I'll have to include a texture import/export feature in the first release.

Not to startle anyone or get off-topic or anything, but that was the last post VL-Tone made, and that was almost 2 months ago. Last time he was online was the 1st of September.

So, he is doing the texture inporter/exporter, something that I don't see very useful anyways since you can do all that with Tile molester... I'd rather prefer the delete and add feature... but whatever, it's not my program anyways, if he wants to do that first ok

[meditating] This here be a test of patience for us all.... Let us sit back and wait in hope, distant hope....[/meditating]

Ok, I'll be honest with you all. I don't like waiting either. I have been waiting for a year + one month. But guess what? This waiting has made me learn how to modify sm64, it has given me much potential, and this waiting has let me find other things to do for personal intertainment.

Vl-tone is a man of expectations. We expect that he will finish at least the beta and release it publically, so he will. It might take forever for him to do it and to perfect it, but he will do it. He will bring this to a finish. Have faith in this.

Now enough off topic, and lets get active!

The ironic thing is I didn't expect the editor to come out when he said anyway. You all should do the same. Never hold expectations on people, because people will fail you.

And never give out deadlines when it's a project you do on your freetime. Although some sort of deadline is important sometime, see Duke Nukem forever.

I doubt it. When working on projects I've hit rough spots and lost interest. Sometimes something else will take my interest. Sometimes more important stuff comes up. (eg work/school) It is probably progressing slowly, on hold, or dead.

Now for somethig interesting: I recently disassembled the function that displays the angle/speed/state information when the debug mode is activated. It is attached.

I takes exactly one argument, a pointer to some kind of structure, and returnes no value. It looks like the function at 0x802d62d8 is a printf like function that outputs to the x,y location on the screen given by the first two arguments. 0x80323a50 might be sqrt, because what is inside it looks like part of the distance formula. 0x8032d598 (look like a certain GS code?) is a one byte global variable that turns on this function (and some others) when it is non zero. Also, I suspect that arg1->off0x68->off0x1c, arg1->off0x68->off0x20, and arg1->off0x68->off0x24 might actually be an XYZ array.

wow, a page filled with people asking for the editor and I'm not impressed =D Maybe this is the reason this should be approval only...

Can be there a rule that says "asking when will be released Toad'sTool 64 will result in a ban."? and could it be in huge red flashing leters boucing around the screen when you open this thread the first time?

I'm starting to think this thread has as much use as the other one... If someone does anything relevant they'll create their own.

Oh, that does it, I AGREE. Make the place approval-only, if not at least this thread.
Seriously people, come on. I think I lost an IQ point reading through this page. Doesn't anyone here have something else to do to keep occupied until the editor is released?

I agree completely. This thread is turning out to be like the old thread, people asking things like "how do i expand a rom" and "when is the editor coming out," when the answers to these questions are either unknown or have been answered multiple times already. The "Super Mario 64 Hacking discussion thread" contains very little actual discussion about hacking SM64. We do not need another 50-page thread filled with n00bs. Please close this thread until VL-Tone comes back.

Nah... I just talked to FreeDOS about this. We figured that a contained mess of "I wanna hax SM64!!!!" posts is better than a bunch of threads with the same content. I guess we can just wait untill this forum becomes approval only, then we can finnally have a conversation without those stupid posts

now, I know I may sound really stupid when I ask This but, If/when this thread becomes approval only, does that mean that people will not be able to view the thread? in other words, say I wanted to be approved so I could post replies on this thread. If I was denied, could I still view this thread and see the replies and/or posted items but not have the ability to contribute to the thread?

thanks

Approval-only means that you must be approved to post in the forum. Anyone can view the threads, though. This will help reduce the "plz give me teh editor cuz i want to make hakcs and i need a rom to" posts by people who refuse to read the thread before posting.
