All the readmes I have obtained dont explain anything. And asking someone a question is far easier, but yeah I guess lol

Because the vast majority of people who visit it are noobs who think hacking is the easiest thing in the world, and they ruin the experience for the small number of users who know what it takes to hack a game.

Because Pokemon fanboys "as is" already are bad enough; most of them belong to the "OMG POKEMON IS TOTALLY COOL EVERYBODY IN MY CLASS PLAYS IT SO I HAVE TO AS WELL!11!!1!one" category - when they try on hacking, their commonly low level of intelligence, unassuming noobishness and the "I AM A FAN OF POKEMON THAT MEANS I CAN DO EVERYTHING!" determination become obvious; of course, there are exceptions to this, but they are very rare, and the mass of the "Pokemon hackers" fit in the above-described category.

How to begin.

a.)Most people don't read the rules *glare*.
b.) They think it's super easy.
b/c.)It's not that easy because you have to redo a whole RPG storyline.
d.)No one likes fakemon. NO ONE.
e.)They complain too much.
f.)They can't sprite.
g.)They cant use the Pokemon programing launage well enough.
h.)They ask stupid questions.

The list goes on.

There is some good out of pokemon hacking however. Look at pokemon brown or quarz. Or Kawa's hack before it was stoped being worked on.

There can be good out of pokemon hacking if people would give it a chance. [a small one at least ]

Who knows god forbid you might have a little fun?

The people who are capable of superb work get bothered so much by n00bs they often give up. However, my own Pokemon projects are on haitus due to insufficient tools and documentation. Weird as it may be... I had to scrap the Ruby version hack years ago since this computer suddenly restarting corrupted it's ROM.

I see, completely understandable, it's just really ghey when I, who has only just started to Hack ROMs, and Pokemon being the most interesting for me, I get labelled as a n00b. It sucks because I have several sstory ideas.

@whoeveritwas, people do like Fakemon, obviously it's cool when they arent aroundm but hey if the storyline involves a different region, then it should involve new (fake) pokemon.
I just hate crappily drawn sprites. I cant sprite to save my life so I am gonna get my friend to do it. So yeah I think Fakemon are okay, as long as they are in Pokemon's style still.
Some of the shite i've seen... jesus tapdancing christ.

@whateverelse, I'm not a pokemon fanboy, I enjoy the games, hell the art's even fairly good, but It's just another RPG to me, with 6 characters on your party, and 386 possible party members.

RAR YOU WILL ALL BE DOOMED TO ETERNAL DAMNATION. or something. FOR DOUBTING NOVICE HACKERS. that are actually gonna do well. RAAR

I'm bored.

Well, if you're concerned about being labelled a "n00b", make a point of proving that you are not. And hopefully in doing so, try to bring up the general post quality of the forum.

Of course, this advice can be applied to the forum in general / posting behaviour in general.

I don't think the "I'm a fan I can do anything" determination is a bad thing, but it does remind me of a little anecdote from my days of being cut from high school soccer: The team captain once told me that to play soccer, I needed two things: Heart and Skill. I had the heart, I just needed to gain the skill. Of course, I tried as hard as I could to get better, but in the end it just wasn't enough. Determination can only take you so far on its own before you have to really hunker down and learn something. Remember that! It's important advice. If you do want to hack, you have to really keep it clean and dedicate yourself to actually learning a thing or two. Otherwise, yeah, you're just gonna be labeled a n00b.

The fact you even had to make this thread sort of shows why the forum section ended up like it did.. And though I probably seem relatively new here to most, I'm more realistically one of the longest running lurkers this forum has ever had. (if not "the" most, I can remember the first board even. =P)

But I digress a little, despite how I look.. I actually know better than to ask stupid questions when I actually do post. And you know what? People respect you a bit more when you sit back and pay attention before blurting out nonsense questions, especially ones you could find out the answers to for yourself easily enough. After all, being a novice is fine, but you aren't going to get a lot of respect if you don't try to pick things up on your own..

Also, if you "don't know where to start" or some such thing, then common sense says that you probably aren't ready for the project you're attempting, and you'd be better off starting somewhere on lower ground (outside of Pokemon hacking in this case) and learning the bare bones from other sources.. If you can't do that, then don't expect anyone to hold your hand, the majority of us never had anyone do that for us and that's how we've gotten to the point we have in our ability..

Oh and.. I've never even looked at Pokemon hacking more than at a glance once or twice.. (Yes.. I've lurked this long and never bothered to visit that place, it just never appealed to me to begin with.) And I knew automatically it would be filled to the brim with crap.. If you don't understand why, then your perception of the internet is likely not fully developed yet, because it is just common sense to me (and the admins, and the staff in general) that such a forum as that is going to attract the most idiotic and laziest of people ever. If you still disagree with that much, you're likely part of said group of people, lazy and idiotic. Harsh, but eh.. Sometimes that's needed.

Because of people like you.

And the people who actualy know what they're talking about are damned SCARED to post anything worth while in fear of retards asking them to make their hack for them, or even more common, steal stuff FROM the hack and use it in their own in an attempt to look cool but fail miserably. Why is this thread even still open

...Wow... that's insightful... postcount ++

Anyhow, as partially mentioned before, I'd have to attest that the immaturity level (directly attributed to age) of the users who post in the pokemon forum, who we call noobs, destroys the forum, because frankly, that's who mostly likes those games. And if they like the game but have already beat it, the next logical step is to hack it and make it "better"... but they can't because they have no patience, experience or intelligence. All the other things come from that; asking for others to make hacks, asking stupid questions, etc. At least that's how I perceive it.
