I've tried several times to get custom link colors and a custom blockquote format, but I think my CSS is messed up. I don't externally link the CSS data. Could someone show me a correct way to make custom link colors? I've tried several sites, and I've copied their examples, but it never works. I even tried copying other users' CSS to see if the code would work, and it didn't.

Edited out my layout: Does anyone know of a better site than Geocities? They are so dumb that they have a data transfer limit, and I can't find another site that has a good offer for uploading my images for my layout. When too many users see my layout, it gets disconnected temporarily, and it's driving me nuts.
