So, it's storming here (the rain was literally falling almost sideways) and I hear a loud KERRRRACK! and 2/3s of one of my trees is now on the ground.

It was a tiny tree (maybe 20 ft at most) but still.

So...

We chopped down all the trees in our yard just for that reason. If one of them fell, it would without a doubt be right through the roof.

Didn't hit your house, did it?

No; even if it did, it wouldn't have done damage.

We just had to cut a tree down due to high winds up-rooting it. This tree wasn't so big either. I wouldn't be mad normally but this was one of our berry trees.

I hope your cleanup isn't so bad with it.

OMG my grandparents have (or should I say had, as they just moved) the toughest tree I've ever seen.

A willow that's about 7 years old now. I remember when we planted that thing. It was so small... now it's HUGE (but I'll never see that place again :/). Anyway, it's been hit by lightning twice and lost about half of it. But it's resiliant and grew back both times. Talk about a tough tree

I mourn the broken trees and STAB THAT GUY WHO MADE THE OFF-TOPIC POST IN THE NOSE WITH A RAZOR-SHARP CARROT.

In other news, we had to cut down some old trees and replace them a while ago as well.

Last time we had a tree fall over to a storm, would be ten years ago, now in October. It ended it's life in the oven, providing us some heat during the winter.

I had a good view at it when it happened, as I was in the living room at that time, and it fell down in front of the fairly large windows there. It couldn't have reached the windows though, because it didn't fall in that direction, and probably wasn't tall enough.

My grandparents have a maple in their yard about a century old and it's massive. During a storm a few weeks ago part of it got hit by lightning and a huge branch collapsed onto the fence, which is shared by them and the neighbor. It sucks because there's mad insurance issues as to who is responsible to fix the fence, since a lot of the branch is also in the neighboring property...

Don't complain about just having a tree fall in your hard, having one hit your house sucks much, much worse.

Uh.. Sorry about the tree though.

Having it come through the house sucks, but that's twice as scary in a trailer and a million times scarier when you're in the room it falls onto before smashing off the back end of the house. It then proceeded to go through a fence and to knock down another tree, which dented a neighboring trailer on the other side of the fence.

Sorry about having to see a tree go though. I cried when they had to cut down the tree I planted right outside my window to move the wreckage of the trailer. I saved a piece of the stump though, it's on my bookshelf.

We had a nice tree that blooms yellow for 2 weeks in March nearly uproot after Hurricane Wilma. The funny thing is that it was leaning the wrong way before the storm. Now we just cut it and it's almost growing straight up.

Trees do not do well in wind

This was the obvious message of the day.
