Wow.

Tool assisted and some tricks here and there, but still pretty cool.

While that is certainly cool to watch, I've never really been impressed with tool assisted runs. The real thing gets me more excited.

Heh, Im going to download this and then watch it (If I can)

Last night I pretty much skipped around between the dungeons, seeing how he did that... I noticed some of the tricks he used that had to be tool assisted (Especially the walk over holes by having a rapid fire controler that presses every frame)

I think I remember that one...it was done some time ago.

That was the one where they continually used the L+R or U+D trick to have Link gain some speed throughout the entire run. Normally, you wouldn't be able to do that with a normal controller.

Still, it is fun to see that game be beat in the time it was. Even the <4 min one has SOME merit of watching.

I can agree with this, after seeing how much the L+R / U+D trick was used to walk through holes in this. Still interesting and fun to watch how perfect he was against the bosses and whatnot.

But yeah, I completely forgot about that site FreeDOS. Any kind of special player out there that plays all of those files, or just stick to the emulators?

I'm interested to check out the real speedrun for this game. Wasn't it around 3 hours and something?

Well, the video files themselves use open-source codecs that are widely available on many platforms (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, BSD, BeOS, etc)... the emulation files, those are specific to the emulator used and the ROM image used (I prefer to play the runs in an emulator, to get perfect video and audio quality, but I sometimes use the video files when I'm not using Windows or Linux)

Edit: Almost forgot, a real human-played run One hour, 39 minutes

Yeah, I completely don't know what I was thinking when I posted the above post.

Are the torrents pretty active though? Guess I'll just have to check some out.
