Depends on how you define "favorite," I suppose.

There are times I am looking to just goof off, and times I want to be challenged.

Weird choice of games... :\ I went through the list and eliminated games I never played, never liked or never finished.

I ended up going with Super Metroid. I'm not saying it would make #1 in my list of favorite games but it's a game you can pick up once in a while and play to your heart's content. Same goes with SMB3 but it's not open-ended, so...

No Fallout on the list?! Oh well, Super Metroid will suffice.

I'm surprised I was the only one to nominate DKC2 in that topic, or any Donkey Kong game period. Ah well. The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time gets my vote either way.

It's more of a cult classic. Half-Life is to Final Fantasy as Deus Ex is to Phantasy Star or Star Ocean or something.
Heh, Deus Ex is hardly a cult classic. And neither is Half-Life. It's just that nobody here really plays PC games, it seems .

In any case, my vote is Ocarina of Time. My favorite console game ever, bar none. But I lean more to the PC myself, so it probably isn't my favorite game (as opposed to console game).

Waadh .... aat?

Well, at least 4 people in the world played Deus Ex.

I voted for Link to the Past. But I'm already seeing a huge landslide here.

I see a certain Nintendo bias here, but I'll go for FF6 based on time spent on it. (It has been a while, so I can't really remember what I enjoyed the most out of those snes games).

Wow, I leave for 12 hours and Orcina pulls ahead big time. I really should make an effort to play the game. It's only been in my home for 3+ years now.

Five, Xeo. I played Deus Ex, too.

What the heck is this Ocarina of Time beating Link to the Past crap.

How unfair.

Also, Wite, you don't play GGX at a tournament: You play GGXX#Reload Slash or some other perverted mutation of the game. Because the later games in the series are nothing more than addresses to balance issues, and the engine barely changes between games (with the exception of the addition of the burst gauges and the differing kinds of cancels and defenses), there's no need to play an earlier, less balanced version of the game. Better choice than Marvel Vs. Capcom, though.

I stand for the application of LttP. If Earthbound isn't gonna get on, I might as well pick something else that gave me hours upon hours of enjoyment.

Well I wasn't trying to make it sound like I was responding to your comment, more at ||bass's. It just doesn't surprise me he "hasn't even heard of it". It was definitely a sleeper hit, and that's a shame. =\

Tough choice.

I pick SMB 3 simply out of nostalgia. I like Super Mario 64 equally but I'll give the nod to a classic.

I was saying that Half Life is the Final Fantasy of modern FPSes, in that it's widely known... and Deus Ex is like some sort of other RPG, in that it's at least as good (if not better in some regards) but not nearly as well-known.

Probably because it's an FPS that focuses on single-player and basically shrugs off multiplayer.

EDIT: A well-played Link could own an average Roy, but a well-played Roy should beat a well-played Link. Link is one of the top-tier characters though, so he definately has a fighting chance. I'm just saying a bias exists, not that it is horribly slanted.

Also, Gray called me out and he is correct for it.

I was going to say that this is going to be going until Friday but is there really a point? The voting is pretty one-sided.

Sure there is -- just make the Final, with only the top two choices.

That way, people who voted for something else can vote for their next favorite.

I like Xk's idea with just having two of the final games up for a poll. Probably Super Metroid and OoT.

And who knows, like most polls people might go "Oh guess I'll change my mind" and pick a different choice?
