| Any suggestions on making a GPU fan on a video card quiet again? I tried cleaning it with just simple pressured air in a can yet it's still nice and rattly. | |||

| Hmm... I guess it depends why it's rattly...
do you know if it's a sleeve bearing or ball bearing fan? Sleeve bearing fans are cheaper, but the slightest wear will cause them to wobble... which might also make a rattle noise... and it's just inefficient. ballbearing fans are generally more reliable and quieter. But even ballbearing fans can be rattly. I don't necessarily know if your fan can be fixed or not, but if it can't, you can replace it and I recommend you look at ballbearing fans to do so. If it's still too noisy, there are insulation kits that will eliminate noise. |

| This computer's fan used to be really noisy, then we just cleaned it's inside with a vaccum and it's alot more quiet. Besides it seems to be more loud during the summers, so I just guess that speed of the fans increased.
So you could try a proper cleanup by taking apart your computer and then vaccum it. Be careful though when doing that, you don't want the vaccum cleaner to suckup any electronic components. Also, check if the fan is little loose or something. This is a wild guess, but i'm sure that a fan that isn't tightly screwed might be kinda noisy.  |

| No no no no no no no. Never vacuum your computer. Vacuum tips build up huge static charges. Static + computer = bad. You can vacuum the fans but take them away from everything else first. | |||

When my Voodoo 4's (yes, I still use one  ) fan started chattering recently, I simply removed it from the card, peeled the sticker back a little (the "drive shaft" or whatever you call it is usually underneath), and CAREFULLY put a drop of oil in the hole. It's quiet as a mouse now. 
From what I've heard, you shouldn't use compressed air on small computer fans. Apparently, this can make them spin too fast, destroying the bearings. I've always done it without problems, though... |

| It seems the fan was just a bit wobbly. I pressed into it myself a little and the wobble stopped, as did the rattling. | |||
