| So, I was at the lake today... and there was a forest fire right in behind it.
So, while we're swimming there, a Sikorsky SkyCrane, a forestry helicopter, and two smaller choppers were using buckets and fighting this fire while we were there. Pretty cool, but also a little disconcerting until it died down. Then, we're about to leave, and we hear about a big explosion at this place down the highway. Turns out this auto place just exploded, and it almost completely levelled the building. It was at least a 5-alarm fire, as there were (according ot one person who had been there) at least 10 fire trucks there. So, the bulding and the car lot were burnt to a crisp... and it was without warning too (connect the dots  ). So, fairly eventful. Alothugh, driving past, I saw the wierdest thing - in the middle of the lot, suyrroundeby burnt-out shells of cars, were two car with their back ends fully intact, paint and all. their front ends were completely blown off, but in the back... The paint hadn't even flaked. Get that.  So... yeah. the onyl other thing I know right now is that the auto place was supposedly a Hell's Angels establishment, which makes me wonder if it was really an accident.
Either way, someone's not going home, which absolutely sucks. There were always two people in the building, working, and customers too most likely |

This...has got to be...one of the most interesting and best true stories I have ever read on this board. I'll admit, I laughed a little. Is that wrong?  I also tried to find a news article on it, but I couldn't. Could anyone find one? I'd like to see the media's view on this.  (edited by asdf on 07-24-06 11:45 PM) |

It was (at the time) only a short time ago that it'd happened (read: <2 hours) And I'll link to any articles I find. |

| Ouch.
Things like that happened fairly often at the intersection outside the place I used to live. The neighbours' house caught fire, someone had a heart attack on a motorbike (didn't crash, but didn't make it either ), a few car accidents, etc... No explosions though. |
