I think my GCN just... died
It turns on, the screen goes black, and the OS doesn't boot the disc or the menu.
The light on the GCN is on, but i don't get picture or sound, just a black screen.

Is all the cables plugged in etc...

Try cleaning all the dust from the filters.

If all else fails call nintendo support, they are usually helpful.

well, I cleaned everything before-hand, and decided to clean the end of the RF adaptor as well.

After that, it worked fine!

Lesson: Always clean your consoles.

Even if I haven't played my GameCube in a while, I always give it a quick check now and then to make sure it's clean and no dust is trapped inside or on the cords.

My SNES had the same problem. It was funny; my brother somehow spilled cat litter inside it, and at the same time, the RF box died. So we sent it in for repair, they cleaned it out and it worked again, and they sent it back. We get it back and it still doesn't work. We had to send it back a second time before someone over there finally tried using our broken RF box and finding that it was b0rked. (They replaced it and sent it back for free though. )
BTW that SNES is sitting right next to my Gamecube and still works great. I played Super Mario Bros 3 on it a few hours ago.

...on a Gamecube game? Obviously that's not the problem as the bios wasn't even starting. Besides he solved the problem anyway .-.
