Geez. Even the answer I was thinking of was better than -that-.

So lemme try this.

First, make sure you know what kind of CPU the Genesis uses. Then, find an opcode reference chart (aka "green card" in oldschool hacker jargon), a disassembler, an assembler, and a good hex editor. The hex editor is the only thing that need not be specifically be for the Genesis' CPU.

Then, call back for step 2.

Best part is that this goes for every single system.

ok i know the genesis uses motorola 68k as the CPU.
i have the EASy68 opcode reference chart.
i using HEXedit ast the hex editor.
ok now here's the problem ive downloaded SNASM 68K for the win XP but when i try to open it doesnt run .What im doing wrong or do you need some kind of application to run it.

thanks for the link never-obsolete.but i still have the same problem. every time i run SNASM68k winxp it keeps closing. what do i need to run this program. i using windows xp home service pack 2

it has to be run in a terminal, so get familiar with the dos prompt. i would also recommend using batch files. unless you know a programming language and wanna write a graphical front end, but i think that would be a waste of time for an assembler.
