I've just uploaded the latest version of the program:
-new sprite: tweeter (that boucing guy from smb2)
-updated smb2.bin for tweeter
-new sprite: left and right moving thwomps
-updated the main program, we're now at v1.03. hopefully you wont have to type in any path information.
-removed donutblk.asm from the blocks subdirectory because it wasn't supposed to be there. follow the instructions in the readme and donutblk.txt for getting the donut lift in your hack.

Hmmm. When I tried it the program still needed my rom name and text name. Is that what you mean by path information? or am I missing something here?

Well, I tested it using the hammer bros. sprite and it worked!!

2 questions, though....

1. I used it @ sprite # 1D (i think) anyways; I didn't feel like placing GFX in the right positions; so I put the GFX file given in for all the sprite files (SP1-SP4) and it didn't look right in LM; but it did in game.

2. How would I use the original sprite in that place? I thought you were supposed to just insert it as usual through the insertsprites window and add sprite manual window for the custom ones; but I'm not sure....

Well I figured making new graphics would be easier than mucking with displacement tables and such... okay, I'm trying to change the pallete now for the Giant Spiny from C to 9. However, every combonation I tried yields either C or D. What should I change the values to? =/

techokami: you want to make a completely different sized sprite... it's not as easy as just changing graphics. if you have the latest version, changing spiny's palette should be just as easy as changing the tweaker byte in the .cfg file.

cory:
1. graphics will not look right in LM. there's no way around this.
2. insert regular sprites just like normal

yoshi: path information is, well, path information. some people had said they needed to type in the absolue path c:\whateever\myrom.smc or at least .\myrom.smc. this is what i have hopefully addressed.

In the latest version of the program, did you add the numbers for the sprites? Cause it's kinda difficult to find the right space for it's graphics. Everytime I put in a number and then put the graphcis anywhere in my ExGFX file it doesn't register and stays the same. Before anyone replies to me I already did all that stuff to make sure it is inserted and superbypassed.

So, it looks wrong in SMW... Do the graphics show up in the LM 8x8 tile editor, and are you changing the right tiles (i.e. right page)

Mozeki, your layout is bork'd.

Anyways, the sprite numbers DON'T select the spot for the GFX. Perhaps you should use the standard ExGFX files MikeyK gives in the .zip file, and then edit them after that.

Well, it didn't close it's own tables... and screwed everything up (as well as crashed IE.)

I had to block it. Maybe you've fixed it now.

ROTFLMAO

I believe I fixed it because I looked at it in lololol, and IE and nothing happened. Also I fixed the paranha plant sideways problem. For some strange reason the sideways paranha plant graphics were in graphics file 04. Like the upsidde down one in the regular SMW is.

Someone needs to do a hack "Introduction to Sprite Tool and its capabilities" With various new sprites, so we Non-Windowsers can see stuff too!

I found a a couple of bugs, rather small; but they annoy me none-the-less.

1. The venus fire traps don't always open their mouths before they spit a fire-ball

2. The para beetles can carry you through upside-down ledges

Oh, and by the way Racoon Sam, I decided to start something of the sort...

A little info for those who are using d4s' hdma kit.

To disable the layer priority bug for the venus fire trap and maybe some other sprites, change the line ORA $64 to ORA #$20 in the .asm files and insert the sprites again.

So... I had a poison mushroom on Sprite 36 (the same sprite number all of the custom sprites use as a base), and have had since mikeyk made it for me over a year ago. He gave it to me in the form of an IPS patch. When I used the latest release of Sprite Tool to insert things like the Shyguy, it phucked up the poison mushroom; the tilemap was all wrong, and it gave Mario star power. So, I whipped out that poison.ips and reapplied it to my hack, and the poison mushroom was fixed. The Shyguy was fine too, but it messed up the tilemap of other custom sprites, like (pictured) the Boomerang Bro, it's boomberang, and the Hammer Bro. I've used Sprite Tool since to reinsert the sprites, but nothing changed.

Anybody got any idea what's goin' on?

I don't know if this has anything to do with you problem but, what you are problably doing is inserting the sprite's ExGFX file in the wrong place. It's supposed to be in SP3. Hope that helps.
