you could at least explain what it does mikeyk wont know what to make it like you need to give more information than that lol

alright when mario jumps on it a clash nosie is made and mario is pushed lightly
away from it.it can be killed by fire balls,cape,star and mario's spin jump.oh i almost forgot the ( mario is pushed lightly) is simsler to chargen chucks exept it
only make clash noise.

Well, I was going to give a different answer, but that seems more, um... correct.

Lishy, if you want the best chance of getting custom sprites in your hack, I suggest you toy around with the sprite tool a bit more, and take a bigger look at the readmes included.

Lishy, I see your dilemma. No other sprite editor has ever been made. (hence, the extreme hype about Sprite Tool)

I am not one to steal other people's levels or graphics or whatnot, so I would be happy to insert the sprites for you if you send me an IPS of your rom and your sprites.txt file for Sprite Tool. Put it in a ZIP file and upload it somewhere, then PM me the link. I'll put in the sprites and send it back to you via PM.

Please note that I may do this a few times for you, of course not like every minute when you want a new sprite, so think of alot of sprites that you'll want and stick them in sprites.txt.

That looks like just a palette change from a normal squishable goomba, if you ask me. If you want a different palette, change it in the .cfg editor.

Or is there some special characteristic involving physics or killing mario involved? Since that hack came out before Sprite Tool, then it would most likely just be a different enemy, like a spiny, with goomba graphics.

hey mikeyk, i am having a weird trouble. I added the sprites to my hack, via the "hackname" and "sprites.txt" thing, and successfully got the venus trap. I ripped the gfx and added to a level (level '103') as 1A and 3 (so it shoots 2 fireballs). Everything was perfect, the venus worked well, but something happened. A level at the third world of my hack (NOT the one with the venus trap, it has no sprite from your program on it) freezes on the "Mario Start" black screen. I dont know if it would matter, but it is level '6' as it is shown on the OW editor. The weird is that this happens only in this level, and i didn't add any sprites from the program in it, it just has the regular smw ones. I'd like to know how can i solve this (fortunately i backed up my rom before start using the program ). How can i avoid the level freezing on the black "Mario Start" screen that appears when Mario enters the level? Any help i'd be thanked, since i'd love to release a demo of my hack soon, and with those amazing sprites.

I’ve encountered a problem with the hammer brothers… I placed one in a level to test it, and it immediately jumped down through the ground, so I deduced that the hammer brothers were hard coded to not jump below a certain y-position, so then I placed them on ground three tiles up from the bottom of the level with the two rows of blocks for them to jump on each three tiles higher, and they seemed to work fine, until I noticed that they never jumped to the ground… so I thought “no problem, I’ll just move the ground and blocks one tile higher”, so then I did, and it worked, but then I noticed that the hammer brothers’ hammers would simply disappear when they were thrown from the top row. Now, you’re probably thinking “you put your hammer brothers too high and their hammers are going off screen”, however, there is still plenty of room for their hammers, and I can even jump to the top row with the hammer brothers, and they still won’t throw their hammers! Now you may also be thinking “there’s too many sprites on the screen”, however, even with just one hammer brother and no other sprites on the screen, the same thing still happens. I can even have three hammer brothers working just fine if I place them were they’ll only jump on the two rows of blocks. In the screenshot I uploaded the green line is the lowest point that the hammer brothers will jump to, and the red line is the height at which they quit throwing hammers. They work in that screenshot, but it doesn’t look very good and it makes it a little harder to get to that Yoshi Dragon Coin with only one tile between the rows of blocks like that. Also, I’ve noticed that the hammer brothers’ bodies use four 16x16 tiles, but half of the 8x8 tiles that make them up are duplicates, so, could you possibly make a version of the hammer brothers that only needed to use 10 8x8 tiles, or is there some sort of technical limitation that forces it to use 16x16 tiles? Because I’d rather not have to erase Yoshi’s fire ball to use the hammer brothers, but still be able to use the chucks.

Oh, and could you make rideable versions of birdo?


…Have you considered making mushroom blocks?

How about a Classic Goomba that hurts mario if he has Star?

And, something unusual... a Spiny that, when hit with Spin Jump, disables Mario's Spin Jump for the rest of the level and hurts him (Spiny dies)

-EDIT-

And, a Mushroom/Flower/Star that moves like Mushroom/Flower/Star instead of its normal movement. Better yet, Extra bit can toggle whether Mushroom moves like Flower or Star and whether Flower, you get the idea. 3 Sprites.

A Charging Chuck that has 6 hit points, Fire immunity, and spawns a Mushroom when killed.

A Koopa Troopa that uses the Cape that Mario normally uses?

I've got a suggestion. How's about some sprite fixes? Perhaps a Chargin' Chuck with a green arm. Or fixes of sprites known to glitch, because I have some sprites with problems after patching things into my ROM. I'd say it would be a whole new direction for Sprite Tool.

The arm is a different pallete than the rest of Chuck - 0xB, to be precise.
Since it is quite convenient to exploit the usability of a 16 color pallete after applying the 4bpp ASM hack, you can just use the green color from the berry pallete (which is now part of 0xB) to recolor that part of Chuck's arm. Problem solved.

the frost goomba is not a palette change from a normal squishable goomba, its a
goomba that cant be squished or fliped over. in Kt's hack SMWR2 there's a couple ice levels that have this sprite in them,here is a screen shot of what it looks like
when mario does a normal jump on it.this sprite was a ASM version of bouncing
football in place,KT changed some stuff in his hack so that this ASM sprite would
appear in some levels.oh by the way i forgot to give more info on this sprite, here is averything.
1.jump proff,makes clash noise and lightly pushes mario away.
2.a spin jump,fire balls,cap and the star kill it.
3.this sprite uses buzzy/spinys GFX locations.

To tell you the truth, I've already done that. I just think it would be nice to have that fixed for room for extra palettes.

I know its crappy of me to suggest a gfx cuz I am a idiot,nub and suck at gfxing but howbout making a wario enemey(wario land 2 style) using a charging chuck becuase they are so simaler



they both charge stupieditly at things(no offense to wario fans and myself,I pretty much like wario thats why hes gonna be my main in brawl)

Requests are for BEHAVIORAL changes, not GRAPHICAL changes. What you're asking can be done by anyone who knows how to edit GFX, and you can actually edit a Chargin' Chuck's GFX in LM instead of a tilemap editor. Just look up the Lunar Magic help file or search on Google for GFX tutorials instead of asking for help the first moment you run into a problem.
