They are pretty good but, I prefer more the spriter's resource. All you got to do is click the game you want, look for a BG section, right click and copy, open paint and just paste it. You should know the rest. I already have some M&L: SSS bg's in my hack. But, no offense Lil Dee these are pretty good but, you know.......blurry.

They are dithered and contain too many colors to be of any use in a SMW hack.

Why is every first letter capitalized here? Anyways, it hardly seems like those could be used in a hack, and I have to agree with Cruel Justice. They have to many colors, and don't even seem like they would fit in with the game if they could be used.

Look at mode 3 and 4. (Mode 7 is a famous one used for pseudo 3D, and Mode 1 is by far the most common graphics mode.)

Mode 3 would allow you to have a 256 color bitmap on BG1, and a standard 4bpp tilemap on BG2. Plus sprites. Of course, there would be lots of overlap on what colors would be used between BG1/2 and the sprites b/c there's only 512K 512 bytes of CGRAM which means only 256 colors defineable at all.



..but you will probably need to use HDMA in order to keep the status bar

Yeah, Peter. I tried that once... Makes me glad I was using a custom palette. Though, if you downsize the palettes somewhat dramatically, it can still look fairly good. I'm doing that with the World 6 mountain graphics every now and then.

I thought Mode 7 also handled the Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy sequence in Yoshi's Island

I like the sprites, and already tried using them in my YI hack, but it appears that, like many other have said, there are much too many colours (considering the palettes in YI support like 3 shades of one colour) And personally, I didn't feel like trying to tweak the colours to my liking, I just don't have the artistic ability.

It'll be nice to see someone make use of them though, like pete, who hopefully WILL prove us all wrong.
