| God damn it! It's summer and on summer all the guavas on the trees outside start falling and fuck up my parent's car.......but, that's not the point. During the summer the ants are all over the floor of our house, I mean literally all over the floor. Everytime I walk I always step on like 12 ants. I waste like 2 cans of Raid everyday and my parents make me water all the floors and then broom all the ants out. What should I do? | |||

Your parents make you water your floor?

| The only things I could recommend is spraying (which it sounds like you've done), or calling an exterminator.
This seems like a pretty serious problem that should be taken care by an exterminator. That's the only ideas I have for you. |

| Buying poisoned ant food did the trick for us...

| I had an ant problem when I moved into my new place.
I solved it by buying a particular ant poison that they take back to their nest. It kills the whole colony. It's good |

| A bunch of little girls near where I live were freaking out over some harmless black ants on the sidewalk a few weeks ago. Someone took a bucket of water to them, or so I heard. Forget about watering the floors, though, that's ineffective. What you should do is pinpoint the location of the nest, get a bucket of boiling water and let it loose. Make sure it actually goes inside, and not just on it. You should be able to destroy the nest and kill the queen. Your troubles should hopefully be over shortly afterward. That was my problem when I moved into this place. I didn't notice the one or two scavenger ants around the place near-constantly, but I discovered the very first time I cooked, that I couldn't afford to leave ANYTHING at all for even 5 minutes before it would be absolutely crawling with ants. One should not have to do the dishes in between cooking and eating. I like to eat my dinner while it's warm too. So I killed them with some nice happy poison. Haven't seen a single ant since. |

They're gonna go /somewhere/ looking for food. Usually they aren't all over though, just in a specific line. | Even if ants are around, they won't be in your hair if you don't leave food out for them, though. You probably are better off with an ant infestation anyway; like I said, they disinfect everything they touch. There's just... No... Reason to kill them. It's especially cruel to kill the queen; it's the one that actually thinks... Ugh. I can't stand people like that. You wouldn't kill a person, right? And you wouldn't kill a cat either, I'm sure... A cat isn't the same species as a person, but they're don't bother you if you don't bother them, and they do nice things; they're just a little dumber. Same with ants, but on a grander scale, and you don't have to feed them (though you can if you want.) I can understand killing an animal to eat it. It's not the nicest thing ever, but that's the way the world works. Killing an animal just because it's in the way, though... That's... That's evil. | |||

| Black ants aren't so bad, Alastor. I draw the line at fire ants though. Horrible little creatures, and I'm allergic to them. I enjoy killing them with gasoline. Sure, it leaves a brown spot on the lawn... but it's more fun to watch than using poison or crushed diatoms. | |||
