I'm making a map editor for Famicon Wars for a forum friend. What I need to know how to do is read the graphics from the ROM and display them on screen dependeing on the DATA. How do I do this?

Well, first you locate the data, then you make sure to find out the format of the images and then to use the data to find out how palettes are loaded, how it determines which image is loaded, etc., then you write a program that uses the data to find the locations for each image and corresponding palette, then you go to the location of each and construct the image based off that, using the image's format.

Umm... I'm not a ROM hacker so if you could provide more detail to each step... That would be greatly appreciated.

TFG has a document and code example [using VB] on his website; it's very useful; grab it, and I'm sure you wont have much of a problem.

basically it's a 2BPP system; there are two bitplanes consisting of 0's and 1's laid ontop of each other. I could go on and explain in depth but I feel there are already document's that do that for me at zophar's domain and romhacking.net.
