I agree with this post. It's too hard raw and too long cooked. I'll take canned noodles any day.

Someone forgot to read the "breaking up if desired" part of the instructions

seriiously, I heavily break my ramen

I don't eat instant ramen often. But I do go eat ramen at a restaurant frequently near my university.

I normally eat it just about every other day, but I've been having it a little less lately. I said 3-6 times a week because I'm still having it at least 3 times a week.

I'm gonna have to side with this sentiment.

It's a good thing to have some stashed away for when you might need it, but other than that... well, I can do without it.

I don't think I've eaten instant noodles for well over a year.

The noodles?

I love that stuff. The chicken flavor is awesome. But I have my own little way of "making it better".

I cook it until it boils, drain the water, add the flavor, chop peices of hotdog into it, melt some cheese over it, and add some lettuce. Mix it all up and it tastes good.

Never. I don't particularly like it. And if I eat noodles, I want them plain. No flavors or anything like that.

Now, pasta is a different story.

I make a variant of ramen noodles too -- it's just the Mi Goreng ones, but I add egg to it and prawn.

Makes it more filling too, and adds some actual nutritional value.

Yes, well she's right. From memory, they seem to be full of MSG, and oils and salts and artificial flavours. And I don't think a shred of anything that actually is good for you.

It's fine if you're using the instant noodles as a base for something with real... actual... food in it... but generally all it will really do for you otherwise is make your belly warm and full for a while.

Listen to your mother. See the Wikipedia article (after you're done with your little spree) to understand what she's talking about. Besides, as I mentioned, canned noodle soup is usually much better and healthier - and if it's chicken noodle, it'll have actual chicken in it (or at least imitation chicken, but in any case, it's good).

Yeah, but like anything... having it once in a blue moon isn't going to kill you. Eating it every day or several times a day is going to catch up to you sooner or later.

OMG... there's an section in the article on the health concerns!? Geez, it was pretty obvious they have the nutritional value of cardboard, but wow...

I wasn't terribly sure what ramen was before I entered this topic, but now I do.
Needless to say, I haven't eaten it before, but if it's so popular, I should try it at least once, right?

Yes. It's a delicious, filling, cheap food. It only costs about 10¢, so it's worth the money. I like the Roast Chicken one the most, but the Chicken one is the most popular. I suggest trying that first.

Yeah noodles make a good base for building stuff but my brother adds butter and salt to it and milk and penut butter =/.

I am surprised he has not died yet.

What a terrible combination of food and drinks. Seperately they're good, but milky, saltly peanut butter2 noodles? What kind of food is that? Then again, I've heard something that someone does with raw ramen noodles that actually doesn't sound too bad, but it's probably much worse than what your brother does. I may even have a bad noodle eating habit myself. I eat spaghetti without the sauce but with butter, shreaded cheese, and oyster crackers instead. So I guess I have no right saying other people have bad noodle eating habits when I do that. It's good though. Really good. _¬

Are you actually afraid of those health risks? I eat Ramen a lot more than other foods and I weigh, well, I'll just say under 130 pounds. I guess it would be bad to have if you have a low metabolism, but it hasn't had an affect on me. Besides, Ramen is addictive. You can't avoid it.
