I got to thinking, every time I heard of a lotto winner, it's always some old person, or at least a person who has well aged, or a group of old people? Why not young people?

Well, you have to be 18 to buy the tickets... and I think it's safe to say most younger adults are in college and such, and don't have the money to spend on lotto tickets.

Around here only people who are already rich win the lottery. It's sad.

I'm convinced I'm gonna win one day, but that's gonna be impressive indeed seeing as I don't buy tickets.

We're not smart enough to buy lotto tickets. It's like savings plans; you have to invest in them at a young age.

Are they sure it wasn't for getting struck by lightning 7 times? I'm surprised he lived through all of those.

As for the lottery, I wouldn't even try. By buying tickets you're just giving more money to the winner. It may only cost a dollar for a ticket, but it's still not worth it.

I was asked for my ID to buy a lotto ticket.

This was a month ago.

Now think about that.

Yea.

Oh! And don't forget...people who do not speak english win the lotto as well.

At least here they do.....

Blah.. I keep thinking I should buy lottery tickets. Just cause you have to be in it to win it, and it sure would help a lot if I could

Course, there's no bloody chance of it happening, so blah! But it would help me a lot at the moment, what with the debt and all

It seems that I usually win on scratch tickets but that's only because I buy them once in a blue moon.

The Tetris one they have here is so good... *_*

I haven't played one of those since I was a kid. I used to have a family friend who used to buy them for me on birthdays and such.

I don't tend to bother with them now... see them as a waste of money actually

My mom would get those for me all the time when I was younger until something happened that made us stop getting them. Lately she's gotten a few, but we haven't had any luck. I had more luck as a child than my mom is having now.

Yeah, it's the other way with most lotteries. I'm sure that some which don't have 49 numbers or so might have similar or better odds, but for most of them you'll likely get zapped first.

From what I hear though, you have pretty good odds of winning SOMETHING with the scratchers. Might not be millions, but I'd take thousands any day.

...shit. I felt as though I screwed up a post sometime today, I just didn't know which. It's fixed now, though.

I just got an idea. Not related to the main topic, but it's about lotteries. Couldn't a city set up a lottery, and give the winning ticket to someone affiliated with the city, and basically channel free money into the city?

I'd be amazingly suprised if that hasn't happened before and there is a law against it, but still. I forgot where I was going with this... maybe it had something to do with gambler's ruin and house edge, I don't recall...

Interestingly enough, VG (the biggest newspaper in Norway), had a thing on its front-page only a couple of days ago about a guy in his early twenties winning the national lottery. Now, VG is a crap newspaper with crap descicions when it comes to front-pages, but still, when they actually make a front-page story about a lottery-winner being young (his age was the focus of the story), then you know it's a rare occurence.

Colin, you have Tetris scratch off tickets? That's pretty awesome. I still wouldn't buy them, but I'd want to.
