*cough*

So, it's school holidays here in South Australia, which means that at my work, it's quiet and we get to do other things. Things like clean up.

I can't remember when the last time was that I gave my desk a good, thorough cleaning, but it definitely seems to need one now Mostly, it's just a bit dusty and I have out of date paper and stuff around, but I seem to have a few dishes piling up that haven't been washed

Other than that, I'm generally fairly neat with my desk anyways. So cleaning shouldn't be too bad. Clean, lemony-fresh victory indeed will be MINE!

How about you though -- is your desk piling up with soda cans, and all messy, or is it neat? Do you tidy your desk (at home or at work) often? Are people usually grossed out by your desk, or not?

Dishes that haven't been washed... at work?

My desk has some papers on it from time to time but everything sorts itself out in the end.

I use dishes at work I have a small bowl that I use for snacks (it last had nuts and dried fruits in it), a glass, a mug, a knife and a spoon that need washing.

Hey, at least I'm not a guy here in Applications who looks like he's NEVER washed his coffeemug.... ever.... the inside of it is a thick tarry browny black.

...I'm sure the cup smells lemony fresh.

I use plastic bags if I have to bring a lunch/supper anywhere. Easy cleanup.

The desk around my computer is never perfect. Everytime I do clean up the papers laying around, someone comes in sometime afterwards and makes a new stack (a sloppy stack might I add).

I'm a pretty clean person myself though. Just like at school we get certain days to clean out our lockers, but I never have to clean out mine.

On my desk:

2 CD-Roms (Backups from when I suddenly had to reformat my hard drive)
A packet of "Hearos," ear plugs meant for concerts.
A bent-up paperclip.
A guitar pick.
My cell phone.
A little thing of lip balm. (Like chapstick, except not in stick form.)

Monitor and mouse/mousepad too, obviously

Earlier today I had a six Coke cans (Accumulated over about 2 and 1/2), a plastic cup I was using for apple juice, and two plates I had used for meals that I decided to take up to my room. I cleaned all that off earlier today.

I generally just clean the stuff off of it every 2-3 days, and then maybe give it a good clean with some spray stuff... once a month, I guess.

What I'm really worried about is how goddamn dirty my keyboard looks. I wash my hands after typing if they are going anywhere near my mouth...

My desk is clean 40% of the time. Otherwise, one can very often spot a wide variety of stuff taking a lot of space including but not limited to: coffee mugs (always empty), glasses (usually emptied), dictionnaries, assorted books that should be in my bookshelf, a bunch of cds, various bank receipts and, sometimes, food, but I try to keep that to a minimum. There's also a semi-permanent shroud of dust on my desk which I have to periodically clean even though it'll come back the next day with a vengeance.

I should clean more often though, I find my desk depressing with all that stuff on it.

You bring silverware to work? Go to the store and get some plastic eating utensils.

I never have a clean desk either, mostly because that's where I keep the stuff I don't feel like using or stuff I want to get to quickly, which together in one pile doesn't really help so I try to keep it somewhat clean.

Same here. One of the easiest things for me to keep clean is my locker. Mine was nicely organized in a way.

The best way to keep things clean is to never let it pile up, which most people do fail at doing that, like myself. Whenever you have something you don't need anymore, just toss it out or put it someplace that you won't forget it incase you need it later. Most of the time that fails too because I lost many things trying to do that, but it's worth a shot... isn't it?

My keyboard was evil looking at home, till in a fit of temporary insanity, I took every key off, cleaned it... cleaned under it...etc.. Now it's clean. Took a while for all the letters to work properly too though

As for what's on my desk.... good god I have a lot of crap....

Okay, INTERESTING stuff on my desk includes a Pinky: ST doll, my wireless headset, a spare mouse, and my keycard. The rest is boring work crap.

And yes, I have silverware at work. I like it. Plastic shit is useless.

I always kept my locker clean. I saw people who left a lunch in there during much of the term... it was never a pretty sight.

Of course, I quit using lockers when I graduated from high school. Too much of an inconvenience.

My desk has an unorganized organiation to it on the outside. The inside is fairly neat, with books lined up in an orderly fashion. As Syn said, the best way to never have a messy desk is to never allow it to pile up.

Although I really have to take a cloth to the underside one of these days...it's absolutely filthy down there; a sheet of grime pretty much coats it.

Some odds and ends...
Besides my laptop and mouse, I have...

Two red and black cd holders (one on each side), one of my katanas laid on top of them, a few Monster XXL cans with the nifty caps on them, some old game boxes kept nice and neat, a graphing calculator, a microphone, my mp3 player, my alarm clock, my dragon, two pencils, some papers and a xacto knife.

My computer is next to my bed so I keep my wallet and glasses and random jewelry on it. I also usually have a netMD and discs and a flashlight in easy reach. You'll often find an empty glass or bottle of whatever I had to drin earlier there too.

My desk is always cluttered... because I have a regular computer desk, with my printer to my right, my PC monitor to my left, and my laptop in the middle... along with papers, pens, notebooks, notes, etc... I need a bigger desk

People leave dandruff on the laptop I use, so I can't take the keys off and wash them off and get all the dandruff out of the creavises. I can however take the whole keyboard itself off, which is how I found what the underside of a keyboard looks like.

Since everyone else is saying what they got on their desk, I might as well say what I've got.
- CDs
- Money
- Gift Cards
- A Watch Case
- Chains
- Trophies
- Legos
- Sheet Music
- A Kite Making Kit(I think)
- A Pinwheel
- A Hat
- A Calculator or 3
- Papers
- Something that has my name on it that I used to have on my wall as a kid
- K'Nex
- Things I've made with wood
- Pencil Holders
- Tissues
- Cassettes
- Books
- Pogs
- Stickers
- Bottle Caps
- A Totem Pole thingy I made in Elementary School
- A water jug I keep stuff in
- A coffee can I keep stuff in
- Tupperware I keep stuff in
- A coffee can I keep other coffee cans in incase I need something to keep stuff in
- A Spanish Dictionary and Grammar Book
- Pencil Sharpeners
- An Artbox I keep eyeglass cleaners in
- Candy
- Megaballs
- Some eyeglass cases
- Fools Gold
- A lot of those Kid's Meal toys

I would go on, but I've gone on long enough. As you can see, I have a lot of stuff on my desk, but it really isn't that cluttered because my desk is huge. Now if I went to what I have inside my desk, well, the list will probably be just as long.

I won't even quote you Syn, that would just piss some people off. You have quite the mess on your hands there.

I just hate being messy. I can let a little mess slide but when it gets a little bad, I can't stand it.

My desk is very clean. Always. I'm obsessive-compulsive when it comes to keeping my room clean. If I eat something, I put it back/throw it away right after. Same witht soda cans and the like. Clean. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.

I make my bed by choice. Jeeze.

My desk is a bit unorganized.

It is a simple desk and I have too many things that are needed which can't be placed on said desk without looking messy.

I'm a fairly clean person but at times I hit moments where I am incredibly lasy and let the mess pile up.

This week I plan to clean my desk and the rest of the house.

My desk (er, drawer) is only clean because someone else cleaned it.

I like collecting cans, and I had somewhere around about 20 all smashed onto my tiny desk drawer top.
