[12:55] (Dr_Death16); I swear, the word drama needs to be stricken from the dictionary, for I've heard it so many times, it will permanently be imprinted on my brain

From a purely objective standpoint, I have to agree with Kyouji here: If he made the time and no one else was able to play, then that's a problem, yes, but it's an even bigger problem if the one time everyone had assembled for the game that he had a prior engagement that involves his life outside the board. In that rare case, there really is nothing he can do about that, and he should not be penalized for it.

Considering the fact that Kyouji is almost always available for play, and that the one time he was unable to seems to have been the moment chosen for the game, I feel the game should be rendered moot and that Kyouji's absence should be ruled as a fluke. He's right: Nothing is gained by forcibly advancing the tournament when nothing is at stake. Kamek, Xkeeper, Ailure, Thoughtless, Tommathy, Kirbynite, SonicandTails, and myself have all not yet played our third round games, so there should rightfully be plenty of time to schedule a game with the four of you.

On the other hand, given how this tournament has been going on FOREVER, there's really not many excuses.

Kyouji: What's wrong with saying "I CAN'T play right now, I have things to do"? Don't use the excuse that you were pressured into playing.

Because at the time, I thought I did have time. It was 5:00, I had to leave at 5:45. I was an hour late to the 4:00 time, but that's okay; everyone agreed that then was fine. Games are 2 minute rounds with two rounds per person, so 16 minutes plus some time between rounds is more than enough. However, it took a bit to set up the game, and then it took about 18 minutes for Danielle to get in from there. I thought I might have the time, but shortly into the game it became apparent that I in fact did not. Thus, I dropped out and signed off.

Yeah, but... that's still your mistake in agreeing to play despite that. :\

If I didn't think I'd have time to play a game or if I felt I'd be cutting it close, I would say so. You always have to leave a bit of room for error just in case things don't go according to plan.

It wasn't random, though. I told everyone I was short on time prior.

Oh I don't want to hear it Kyouji. You left the game huffing and puffing, you didn't say a damn thing to anyone about possibly playing another time. I guarantee that had you ASKED, we all would have complied. But instead, you said "screw this" or something to that extent, and left without another word.

And then signed back on a few minutes later.

You agreed to play at 4, and YOU were the one holding us up until 5. Don't even try blaming it on me, just because you decided to arrive in the middle of my dinner.

And just to let you know, we finished the game at 5:40.

I signed on to ask a friend something, then signed off. This window was quite short; nowhere near enough time to finish the game. And really, I wasn't blaming it on you, I was merely saying that I thought we had time when it turned out that we didn't because you were eating dinner. Did I ever say "Well, everything went fine except that bitch dani held us up until there was no time left" or anything even remotely similar to that? I submit that I did not. I readily admitted that I had forgotten my commitment when I agreed. I'm not trying to manipulate this situation to my advantage, or anything. And seriously, about leaving without saying to play another time. Is there anything else I could have possibly meant? Anything at all? Not really.

Well let's see, everyone in our room took it as "screw you guys, I don't want to play."

Too bad you didn't have the patience or decency to fill us in on this master plan of yours.

Yes. I don't want to play. That's why I kept asking you guys to play earlier. And even then.

Also, might as well post this

DetectiveGrey: How did you hold them up until five?
Stylish Alastor: I was watching Yojimbo for the foreign film assignment in my art class
DetectiveGrey: while waiting for them, or in spite of waiting for them
Stylish Alastor: Eh, I agreed to have my parents over to watch it about a week and a half ago
Stylish Alastor: Like I said, I had forgotten about past commitments when I agreed to that time.
DetectiveGrey: well, when was the date for the game announced
Stylish Alastor: Friday.
DetectiveGrey: so
DetectiveGrey: that
DetectiveGrey: is a week ago
DetectiveGrey: and your parents a week and a half ago
DetectiveGrey: er
Stylish Alastor: It's two days ago.
DetectiveGrey: not even a week ago
DetectiveGrey: fuck it's two days
Stylish Alastor: Yeah.
DetectiveGrey signed off at 9:31:50 PM.
DetectiveGrey signed on at 9:31:52 PM.
DetectiveGrey: 4 o clock
DetectiveGrey: your parents were over?
Stylish Alastor: Yes.
DetectiveGrey: Why didn't you ask to play at a different time?
Stylish Alastor: At 5:00, which was when I got back on the internet, they were preparing to leave.
DetectiveGrey: That doesn't answer my question.
Stylish Alastor: Initially, I thought I had time. Then, when I didn't play but expressed an interest to, I believed it was implied that I wanted to play at a different time.
DetectiveGrey: I hear you left the room in a huff, in spite of the fact that the game progressed smoothly.
Stylish Alastor: Pretty much.
DetectiveGrey: Why?
Stylish Alastor: I was unable to focus on the game with everything else I had to do. I could not simply have played the game; as Dani said, it ended at 5:40, though my preparations took far longer than a mere five minutes. Since multitasking is pretty much impossible while playing Graffiti, I did what I believe to be the only logical move.
DetectiveGrey: Quit while you were losing?
Stylish Alastor: I wasn't losing, really. I was behind by 100 points less than a third of the way into the game. You've played graffiti; that difference is nothing.
DetectiveGrey: Then why so angry?
Stylish Alastor: Wait, what? Who said I was angry?
DetectiveGrey: "In a huff"
DetectiveGrey: also "Screw this"
Stylish Alastor: The "Screw this" came from realizing that I could not continue, and did not want to spend more time when there were more pressing matters. A poor choice of words, likely, but inconsequential.
DetectiveGrey: Highly consequential, since emotion is detailed entirely through word choice via the internet.
DetectiveGrey: Also, I hear you were behind neo by 100 points, and Danielle and KATW by about 300
DetectiveGrey: Which is considerably more of a difference in a good game of graffiti, considering that if you have two people ahead of you by that total
DetectiveGrey: it's much harder to get back on top.
Stylish Alastor: ... No... I was behind neo by 50, one of them by 200, and the other by some other number.
Stylish Alastor: I'm pretty sure it was 100.
Stylish Alastor: I was at 100, and the highest point total was 300. I definitely know that much.
DetectiveGrey: Are you sure?
Stylish Alastor: Well, concievably my lack of focus could have caused me to not have an accurate view of the game state. But I'm pretty sure about it.
DetectiveGrey: So why would you play when you weren't focused? I know you better than that, you always go into every game with every intention of winning, and with every possible advantage towards that goal on your side.
Stylish Alastor: Like I said... I didn't know I didn't have time. Plus, I felt pressured into playing then. Dani yelled at me a lot.
DetectiveGrey: You did rush her into finishing her dinner so that you could play a round of an online version of a mediocre board game that's already been postponed for more than three months and could easily stand a few more hours of time so that everyone could get their obstacles out of the way. I feel you acted rashly, upon hearing both sides of the issue, and that your conduct could stand to be improved next time. Not only that, but if you are so concerned about the way the tournament advanced, why are you? Do you win something other than pride if the tournament ends with you as the victor?
Stylish Alastor: If she felt rushed, that's really not my fault; I didn't yell at her, or anything, I just said that she should get done soon else I would have to go. This is rather different from saying that she needs to get done soon or else the match will never be, or anything. It's a manner of principle. I'm fairly certain I won't win the tournament (In fact I'd be shocked if I did), but I feel cheated, and that's not cool.
DetectiveGrey: Well, fine.
DetectiveGrey: I've continued this turnabout for too long, I gotta sleep

x_X

So is this going anywhere? I want to start my game soon, though not too soon, I have alot of stuff to do tomorrow -.-, but sunday earliest and any other time. I probably want it started before midnight local time (or 18:00 board time), or else I might have to sleep for school. :/

I'm waiting for the other two teams to play their games.

Talk to your group, set a time, you know how it works.

None of you want to, so whatever. My enthusiasm isn't enough to get you guys to play.
