All right, for some of you who don't know the game at least try to help me out. I'm trying to change the Pterodactyl's color from pink to green using FCEUXD's Hex editor, I found the color offset after searching for 20 26 (Which is the Pterodactyl's palette pattern) but everytime I change it to 2A and save it, it keeps closing without saving anything. I need help with this.

Have you tried using another hex editor?

Yes. But when I saved it and loaded it in another emulator like VirtuaNES there was no change at all. If I'm to hack Big Nose the Caveman, I need to change all the bosses' palettes to my liking without the game crashing or the emulator closing itself without saving.

You're hacking it in the RAM, you need to find the palette in the ROM itself.

In the Hex Editor, go to View and make sure "ROM File" is checked. Otherwise the changes you make will NOT save.

I was hacking it in ROM but when I saved changes to it, the emulator closed itself without saving my changes. I wasn't hacking in RAM at all.

What do you mean by stand-alone? Do you mean a hex editor that isn't opened with an NES Emulator? If so, then I'll try it.
