And I would like to add Irfanview as an image viewer.. It's freeware, and has basic editing utilities. It runs great, and has great compatibility.

For burning, there's CDBurnerXP Pro 3 which is actually good no-crap freeware, but unfortunately backed by a suspiciously stupid spyware-esque name.

and like I mentioned in the other thread, HDD Health can help you be more cautious about hard drive death, by monitoring S.M.A.R.T values.

jEdit - a text/HTML/Almost Anything editor, made with Java (platform independent) that uses plugins and has complete documentation on making your own plugins as well. Very nice, and is still being worked on. Includes syntax highlighting and all that, too.

Did I mention it's free?

Altova DiffDog
, a program I came across for comparing changes in source code (useful for forgetful people like myself). it's text and line-break based, so it should work with anything from ASM to visual basic to bash scripting, so long as the code is fairly structured.

Sure it was LimeWire itself and not your own fault?

RealAudio Wave Recorder
http://www.geocities.com/rawavrecorder

A small (<50 kb) utility that can record streaming Real Audio files from the Web and record them on your hard disk as WAV files. If you're like me and can't get the Winamp real media plugin working at the same time as the diskwriter plugin, it can be very useful.
