According to my friend they're supposedly bringing it back to theaters sometime soon.

Blade Runner = bad adaptation of a great book with really nice cinematography. If you're not into really revolutionary camera angles and shadowing and shit like that...its not all that great. Read "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?" instead. Far better.

Bogus. I've never read the book and I think Blade Runner's stellar. It's got such a phenomenal atmosphere, and the camerawork's great. I look forward to the Final Cut coming to theaters and DVD next year. I hope it really is Ridley Scott's definitive version.

In the name of not derailing this thread (the 80's movies one), anyone else want to see this? I quoted the above because it, too, is based on a Philip K. Dick story. 'Cept the difference here is A Scanner Darkly's done with rotoscoping (or, animation based on live-action footage). Based off of what I know of the book, that should be a particularly intriguing and well-suited move.

EDIT: Yeah, I know, Toxic made a thread about this, but it was five months ago. There's a link to the trailer in there if you're interested. (And don't try posting in it, I just closed it lest anyone... try... to post in it.)

I personnally look forward to see it. I had my doubts at first, seeing how PKD's stories get treated as movie adaptations, but the trailer pretty much made me a believer. The fact that the animation isn't just pure 3D is a plus in my book, as I prefer 2D or 2D-like animation and have not seen a new non-anime 2D animation movie in a while.

I just started reading the book, and I hope they won't screw this one up.

Damn, five months already?

Having now read the book, I have no idea what they plan to do with it. The book let me down in terms of plot...It just gets derailed at the end. That being said, I'll still see it, just for
kicks, and see Keanu "The 2x4" Reeves in work as our pal Bob.
