np: Nine Inch Nails: "Starfuckers, Inc."

The main purpose of this post is that I saw 'em last Tuesday and IT WAS GLORIOUS. Even if Peter Murphy should've whacked that guy in the pit rather than taking it out on everyone else and not playing "Bela Lugosi's Dead" (editor's note: Bauhaus was opening for Nine Inch Nails). NIN didn't play this song, but Trent hit most of the classics that made me proud to be OG. "Sin", "Terrible Lie", "March of the Pigs", "Something I Can Never Have"... oh yeah, and "Hurt" didn't end the show. After that, they played "The Hand That Feeds" and "Head Like A Hole".

AAAAAANYWAY. Who else remembers when this video came out? Trent and Marilyn Manson are a-fussin' and a-feudin'. Video premieres, and the only thing of note at first is there's no director listed in the credits. So it's Trent and this blonde on a rampage at a derelict carnival, throwing baseballs at plates with the faces of various musicians on 'em, dunking a bloated Courtney Love look-alike in the dunk tank, tossing some CD's (including The Downward Spiral) in a toilet, some of Trent and the blonde making out in the limo, then near the end, blonde loses the wig and HOLY SHIT IT'S MARILYN MANSON. AND HE'S LISTED AS THE DIRECTOR. That was a bit of a mindfuck for said People Who Are OG Nine Inch Nails (got into them around middle school, so 1994) and followed the feud. Nice way to patch things up, especially considering this song's in part an attack on him. I quote: "I am every fuckin' thing and just a little more/I sold my soul, but don't you dare call me a whore/And when I suck you off, not a drop will go to waste/It's really not so bad, you know, once you get past the taste (ass-kisser)." So. Who wants to guess what this is about?

I hope I won't get lynched for posting here.

I'm listening to Rockell "In a dream". It reminds me of the 90s, and it's just damn catchy.

I am currently listening to the main game theme from Solstice (not the opening music.) I recorded it the other night and encoded it into mp3. Now I've had it on repeat for at least 2 hours and it pretty much has me in a trance. It got annoying after the first few times through, but then it just became part of the fabric of my universe and it'll be weird to turn it off...

np: The Draft: "New Eyes Open"

YES! YES! YES! MORE MORE MORE! Hot Water Music, your days may be done, but everyone else in the band (sans Chuck) are chugging along in the Draft. It's very similar, musically, which is a Very Good Thing, of course. They haven't lost a step, and I'm already bouncing around waiting for them to put out something (ANYTHING) on wax/metal and plastic. Or, ya know, they COULD come up here on tour... If I didn't give my left nut to get tickets to Sleater-Kinney's last NYC show, the Draft gets rights to it. In the meantime, this song alone makes it worth getting the latest installment in the Punk-O-Rama Unsound series.

I saw Rob Zombie, Anthrax, PM5K, and 10 Years in concert yesterday. It was a wild and crazy festival with expensive hot dogs and tasteless snow cones, but it was a lot of fun. 10 Years show was horrible. PM5K I don't really care for, but definitely put on an entertaining show. First time I had even heard Anthrax, and they were amazing. Rob Zombie was simply amazing. Lighting, projection screen, smoke, pyrotechnics, everything. Best concert I have been to in a while, and am now considering going to Ozzfest this tuesday.

Figured putting this post in this thread would make more sense than a whole new thread.

The song from the first Magical Trevor is in my head and has been for 7 hours.

Make it stop.

Please god make it stop.

I'm not sure if it counts as "listening" but god... damn... just... make it end....

Spitalfield - Gold Dust vs. the State of Illinois

I am currently in love with Spitalfield (have been for a while) and this song is one of their best IMO. Very nice lyrics, lead singer has a nice sound... Overall great song. I could listen over and over. But I like variety in my music rotation, except when it comes to file naming, where I tend to be a little OCD.

I just listened to Megadeth's Youthanasia all the way through. Damn, that album is metal. It's definately one of my favorite Megadeth albums. Now I'm listening to my Green Jello cd for old time's sake. Cereal Killer FTW.

Mutha's Day Out - "What you see"

Anyone remember that part on Mortal Kombat when Sonya and Jax go into the techno club to find Kano? This is the song that played in the club. I've been looking all over for this gem and it seems that this is the only song Mutha's Day Out ever played.

np: Radio 4: "Enemies Like This"

So I'm told Stealing Of A Nation sucked. I beg to differ, but then again, I'll fight to the death to insist U2's POP didn't suck either. Anyway, this is the title track on their newest album, and it does seem like they're rolling back a bit to their Gotham! form. Which isn't a bad thing at all. It is kind of more accessible, and certainly sounds more dance-punk oriented, what with the looping guitar riff that makes up most of the song. Political? Uh, this is Radio 4 we're talking about here. So that means the reviews describe this album as ripping off the Clash and Gang of Four. Uh... huh. Where are we drawing the line between influenced by and ripping off again?

Ice Cube and DMX - "Eye of the Tiger"

Uses a mix of rock loops and an awesome rhythm. I've been listening to alot of rap lately and learned to appreciate it more. I've acquired quite a liking to songs by Ice Cube, DMX and Snoop Dog.

Stephen Lynch - Go Down To The Old Pub Instead

The first time I heard this song was part of it to a short Hellsing AMV, and I had to download the full song. I couldn't stop laughing after hearing the full song.
It has a celtic sound to it, and lyrics that could only be played in a pub. ^^
It's a song recomending that, instead of dealing with your wife during "that time of the month", to "go down to the old pub instead". On the version I have, you can hear people snickering in the background the whole song, probably because the singer has no tact whatsoever.

Numb and In the End-Linkin Park

I first heard these two song on the radio a few years ago. I was going through my WMP library, labeling music, and saw Linkin Park, and set it to repeat. Been driving to school and listening to LP. That and these two songs sound bad ass in my car.

"Salvation is here" by Hillsong United

I first heard this song at my friends house. It's not the music I usually listen to, it's christian music, but yea, it's pretty awesome. Apparantly, Hillsong United was just a religious youth band at a church in like, hawaii or something (can't remember lol). And I guess they we're so good, they got a record deal. Well, this is what my friend told me, I'm really gullible, so who knows..

Artist: Maná
Album:Amar Es Combatir
Song: Tengo Muchas Alas

Spanish band, new album, loving it. The song is basically what they have done before, a slow romantic song. It hits a personal note because parts of the song speak to my personally and I can relate them to my current situation. I'm a big fan of this band and it is a shame that I do not have all of their albums. I am actually giving this album more interest to the new The Mars Volta album which isn't bad just not very good.

Nice going Cedric and Omar for fucking up and not making an album like De-Loused in the Comatorium which is what I wanted.

Oh well.

Paul Wall - 'They don't know'

"Texas is the home of the playas and pimps" ain't that the truth?
This rap song has a kick-ass beat and a nice rhythm to it. It's mostly about Texas gangstas. I first heard it when my friend Kayland was driving the fellas and me around for beer. I remember hearing this boom in his car while he drove 75 in a narrow country road.

Artist: Apocalytpica
Album: Cult
Song: Hall of the Mountain King

The band is mostly hard Rock with guitar and violin.
They don't do much singing, but if they do, it's English or French (from what I can tell).
Hall of the Mountain King is a modern Rock version of the classic composed by Edvard Grieg. It, like the original, features constant BPM changes and relatively gets faster and louder as the song progresses.
Apocalyptica is one of my favorite bands (#1 in Rock bands).

np: Ice Cube: "It Was A Good Day"

Which is ironical, as I just got diagnosed with strep. HOORAY BEER! PENICILLIN! Anyway, this CD, along with the others I got today (Naughty By Nature, Method Man, "Who's the Man" and "Friday" soundtracks, etc.) scream "I WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL BACK IN 1993", yes? Seriously, who hasn't had a day like this?

* Woke up
* No smog, a decent breakfast
* Get a phone call from someone you've lusted for
* Drove around in your lowrider, get paged by someone else
* Quick game of basketball, and you are a BEAST on the court
* Get home, shower, run a red light and don't get pulled over
* Head over to a friend's house, make a ton of money off of them playing craps
* Beat them in dominoes
* None of your friends get killed
* Your favorite team wins
* Head over to another girl's house, get drunk, smoke some weed
* Hard fucking
* Wake up, bring her back to your place
* Publically announced as a pimp
* No one's looking for any criminals
* Didn't have to shoot anyone

THAT. Is a good day, if you ask me.

Currently listening to four CDs from Super Robot Spirits, a collection of artists (like MIO, JAM Project etc) and seiyuu from super robot games and shows that mostly do live stuff. It's pretty awesome really, especially hearing all those tracks that usually don't come with vocals. As for the current track, that would be Forever Justice, a medley of "Ai yo Far Away", "Hey You", "Toppo de Tango", "Mierudarou Byston Well", "Umi yori mo fukaku", "Chichi wo motomete" and "Kimi no naka no eien" and apparently all sung by Apple Pie. (That is one awesome artist name btw). For the record, that's the two G Gundam endings and the Dancougar opening right there, as in FUCKING WIN.

Maze Of Shadows ~ The Labyrinth Of Eternal Darkness ~ -- from the Riviera Full Arrange Soundtrack.

A random selection from my expansive collection of video game music. It's a nice mellow tune, all chimes and bells, from the ending area of the game. I won't spoil the game any more than that though
