| What I never got about this show is how they thought they would make any money on it. I mean, the idea behind Pop Idol is ingenious, really: These people get a lot of media exposure through being on national TV for months, so that when they finally win and launch their single, they already have lots of fans and they are an instantly recognizable pop star.
Dancers, however... Whoo, you're famous, but you're not really in a market where thousands of fans will buy videos showing you doing your crazy dance moves. Dancers just ain't the same kind of individual money-makers that singers are. So, honestly, I don't get where they're trying to go with this program. That being said, I'm not a fan of either Pop Idol or So You Think You Can Dance, but I can understand where the producers were going with the former. |
