Hey guys, just want to let you know that my hack is done. But it's only a 3-World demo as of right now so if there are any glitches you see in the game. Don't worry about them, it's only a 3-World demo so be patient as I need to learn how to do some bank swapping routines and getting Moon Land's map data, combining the ROMs and what-not. So without further ado, here is the screenshot
http://www.freewebs.com/grand_master_king_brett/27.png
Now I know the 4 is smaller than the 3 but I need some space to put B. R. underneath the 4 so don't take it seriously. I just need some feedback before I plan to put the game on cartridge.

I think you didn't make the patch properly, or is the IPS seriously only 34 bytes big?

It is seriously only 34 bytes big. I didn't expand the ROM when making the demo.

Patched it. No difference to the original.
You really didn't make the patch it properly.

I want to surprise you guys a bit. If I showed you the screenshot of the levels then you probably wouldn't want to try it, the levels are challenging (Except for the 1st level of the worlds.) If all the levels are the same then I must've created an IPS patch out of two unchanged Mario 3 ROMs and I'll have to send you the fixed IPS file.

Yes, the overworld is the same, the levels are the same. Everything is the same.
I don't know how you made the patch though, as there still is 26 bytes difference.

I made sure everything worked right before I made the patch. If this patch is the same thing then I'm using SNESTool and I'll need to get Lunar IPS to make a new patch. Let's try it again.

This file is identical to the last one.

And I've heard that SNESTool has some problems with IPS patches, so this might be it.

Ok, I'll need to get the Lunar IPS and make sure everything works correctly then make an IPS file and attach it and it should work fine.

Maybe he just releases a Patch from one of his versions of the hack to another (new Titlescreen).

Download the PRG0 and PRG1 SMB3 files anew, then use them to create a patch from your hack. So everyone is happy.

You may also post that you're using Super Mario Bros. 3, without looking at the linked screenshot, it's not obvious.

Still no change in-game.

Are you sure you make the IPS files correctly?

What emulator are you using? It should work well with FCEUXD. I'm going to patch the file myself and see what's wrong with it. Some emulators may run my hack as if it's not hacked at all.

I use FCE Ultra, but I don't think it's an emulator issue because the patch is too small for a hack (even a one-level one).

I tried both FCEU and FCEUXD and my hack works fine after I patched it to an unchanged Mario3 ROM. Something must be wrong with your computer then.

Actually it might be the attachment feature that somehow corrupts files. Have you tried uploading the patch somewhere else?

Now you can play my demo this time. Just don't mind the stuff like the glitches and stuff. It's just a demo.

Well, this file is again identical to the last one, so this can only be a problem on your side because I can tell from experience that such small IPS images are never gonna be a full hack.

Check this points if you have done them:

- I have confirmed that the original ROM is indeed unmodified.
- I have confirmed that the hacked ROM works correctly even in a freshly installed emulator.
- I used Lunar IPS to make this patch.
- I selected 'Create IPS File', then fiest selected the original ROM and them your hack
- I tested the patch on my unmodified ROM.
- I tried to redownload the original SMB3 ROM and tried it with that.

If you checked all these points, I'm out of ideas.
