Is it possible to hack a game like, say Legend of Zelda: A link to the Past, into an online game? If so, could someone direct me to a tutorial how, send me the links on the tools, and/or tell me how to do it?

I don't think it's been done other wise it would have already been here.
As for tools...Hope you have ALOT of education to make'm cuz there ain't none.

The closest thing to an online LttP is that SNES satelite they had in japan only that took place after LttP if I'm correct. (If not then someone here will surelly correct me)

It only went on for so many weeks and then they took it off. Sopmeone managed to port the VERY begining to a rom but it's so horribly unfinished that it's unsuitable for any kind of gameplay. Hackers have tried to revive it but didn't get very far. I'm afraid that game will never see the light of day again.

Again I could be wrong since I'm not a hacker.

That's very wrong. The whole story is:

In Japan there once was a adapter meant to be attached under the SNES that connected with a server via satellite where you could play games at certain times. These games were live streamed and the intros and cutscenes were spoken by the moderators.
Once the console was started, you could either play as a boy or as a girl. Then you appeared on the overworld where you could look around and play games.

One of these games was 'The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets'. It beared many similarities to 'A Link to the Past', but it was a totally different game. You played as either the boy or the girl (see above) and you had to get 8 stone tablets hidden in the dungeons.

The gameplay was totally different thanks to the time system. You could play this game between 6 and 7 PM. Therefore, a clock appeared on the top right of the screen and triggered special events at a special point of time.
The game was 4 days long (one day a week) and was streamed two times (I think). Today the ROM of this is floating around on the internet, but emulation isn't very well because most SNES emulators are lacking support for this particular adapter. Time and day emulation work well, though the live streamed parts are missing (obviously).

So no, this wasn't a multiplayer game.

To the original poster: You probably need to learn tons of ASM to get multiplayer to work for a singleplayer game. There are no tutorials to do such a thing as it hasn't been done before for SNES games (at least not that I know).

There just plain is no way. It'd be far easier to code one in Flash/PHP or C++.

For online tilebased games a program called BYOND is pretty decent. It's a bit above my abilities and the community is not too large but it's pretty powerful. Having previous coding experience, or experience dealing with graphics is a BIG plus though.

If you mean something along the lines of Graal, then no. I.e. the SNES doesn't support Multiplayer with multiple screens, for obvious reasons. You could make it into a 2 player cooperative game similar to Secret of Mana if you really wanted. I'd say that would take a lot of coding, but not an insane amount.

Except I'm totally fucking hyped about Dracula X: Chronicles.
