I enjoy watching soccer, but I couldn't stand playing it as a kid. Watching soccer though, especially with such exceptional players and teams as the World Cup brings, is fantastic.

...But I'm with Kas, hockey kicks ass.

Yeah, I played a year in high school. Not my thing. And it ruined me for cross country and track that year.

you're evil

I played soccer during recess in elementary school, then I stopped playing altogether because there really wasn't equipment to play soccer with (i.e. no easy access to a ball and not enough people to play with)

Most of the money our High school spent on sports ended up funding the football team (isn't it the same everywhere though?) so we (read: I ) couldn't have a soccer team.

I'd like to play the sport again, but I suck, and the college team/trainers/recruiters are mostly sadists who like nothing more than go Tarale-style (and worse) on every newb that tries to qualify for the team.

lol.... I wasn't really that bad, although I DID deliberately kick a boy in the shin once. He thought it was acceptable to try to intimidate me on a daily basis during practice because I was a girl.

He stopped after I kicked him in the shin.

Most of the boys stopped trying to bully me after they realised I wouldn't shy away from a tackle -- and there were plenty of accidental kicks in the shin resulting from said tackles.

That makes two of us. In fact, it's really the only sport I'm quite good at to this date, although my potential went untapped as it always did and usually always does.

And I don't particularly like hockey. There's extremely poor officiating in every game, from hypocritical calls (not calling what one team does, calling out the other on very minor infringements) to not doing their job in general. In fact, if you watch any game closely, you're sure to see that there are many offsides that are not called. Soccer tends to be more lenient and neutral.

Playing soccer in the scorching heat in the middle of a hot summer for 2 hours isn't very fun though, it's just tiring. It's really fun in autumn and spring though - great workout from all the running.

Gatorade FTW

*sigh*

I'm about to leave for senior pictures... the one day a year that I worry about how I look. Oh well, if I look like a fool, then everyone will remember me like so. That's life.

I used to play Soccer, when I was really young, but one day this jackass claimed I kicked him, and it was just my word against his and he was a lot more popular than I was and you know how that goes. Reputation ruined forever.

I played soccer like hell when I was in 2nd grade. Right when recess started, one kid would grab a soccer ball or two, and everyone would run to the field screaming "SOOCCEERR!" The games were weird, but fun. 5-10 goalies, one goal, and no passing. There weren't teams. No one kept score. It was kinda like The Sandlot, except a little less organized. I'm drifting away from soccer now, though. I do play a little every now and then at school, but that's really rare. I usually play football or basketball instead. My aim's still crappy, though. I usually hit someone square in the face when I go all-out with power. If I ever make one of those shots, everyone on my team will make a clear path. I guess you can say I have a reputation for smacking people in the face.

Soccer is really the only sport I don't mind playing, Even though when I was a kid, both me and one of my best friends got nailed in the face with the ball and our glasses were broken. (Not the same day, of course.) I actually got twice. Same guy, no less. That's what I get for defending.

I played defense in soccer, the last player before the goalie (I think it's called sweeper?). I only got hit in the face once, and it sucked. The damn ball cut my lip open and gave me black eyes and a very sore nose for a week. The lip took about a month to heal. I couldn't eat anything hot, spicy, crumbly... I basically lived off soft bread because it's the only thing that didn't hurt like a bitch on my lips.

I believe they take several shots and you pick the best one for the yearbook. So, I'm sure you can't ruin all 10 or so shots...

You get 4, actually, one of which you have to hold up a paper saying who you are for them.

Eh, it was kind of awkward. I hate pictures.

Hope you can choose the better one Danielle. In my case, we only got 3 different poses and we didn't even get to choose which one to get in the yearbook.

Ooh, you can do that for extra money. I just did the standard one, 4 shots. There's a 12 shot one, 18 shot one, and 32 shot one -- You have 4 head shots and the rest are for you to do whatever you like with whatever props you want.

32 shots? I have a hard time coming up with one pose by myself...

it was a standard battery of shots, I didn't have to pay anything, just had to show up. once the pictures came back as samples, I can order more copies of them as their marketing ploy. But I took the samples and scanned them in. Saving me the need of actually printing them out (we had to return the samples )
