It's probably nothing more than a marketing gimmick. Some of the source in some places make reference to ilovebees2, GameFAQs, and various other places on the internet. If you tamper with your computer's time, it refreshes and goes back to normal. Others say this is like march8.com was.

While we're on the subject of this, the referal list can be found at eon8.com/security. The YTMND on it is worth checking out too.

It's based on server time. It just syncs to your computer so that it doesn't have a high server load (acmlm.org used one when it opened.)

Odd. The website seems to have changed since some time ago. Old pictures someone took of the site can be found here and here.

What I meant to say (or rather, what I now understand) is that some sites are labeled in the security page, while most others are not given one. Examples of these include GameFAQs Message Boards, IMDb, I Love Bees II, and even US Dept of Defense. Some people say that this is viral marketing at its finest. The Wikipedia Article might also provide some answers.

Aparrently, they displayed the referrers even if unverified.

You could spoof them and insert HTML and such.
