People have started hacking more complicated n64 games than this so I don't see why someone wouldn't want to try hacking ssb espically since the game is so popular. Since most games that are hacked are 1 player games a hack of this game should focus on improving the multiplayer experience. Also a level editor for this game would be incredible.

Sigh...The new ones...
Guess we were all new once =\

Anyways, this kind of thing is really not going to happen. Even if a level editor of some kind were to be made for SSB, it would be seen by users as, "Too Difficult". Editing a 3D enviroment is hard as it is(Trust me, I make CounterStrike/DoD maps), and doing something that wasn't ment to be done in the first place(Editing the levels) will be unstable, not worth it, and of course; hard.
This should be the line in the sand right here.
People, LEARN NOW. These kinds of things need to be kept to yourself. Noone is going to run out and spend weeks of research into a game to do something like this when someone asks; they will do it if THEY want to.

Stop posting "Editor Plz" threads, and try something else for a change; LEARNING how to make one yourself. You can't always have everyone in life hold your hand =\

* I vote for a sticky for Editor Requests, so any threads that are similar to this can be closed on the spot. Of course, the Editor Request thread would only be there to humor the noobs until they figure out the truth.

Sonic has the right idea - if you want it done so badly, grab a hex editor and see what you can do. Editing 3D games is difficult. I wouldn't say it's not worth trying though.

Exactly, learn to do stuff yourself. Although, I would like to make a SSB hack that features Crazy Hand as the boss instead of Master Hand but I need to learn its ASM before I can do something like this. Anyway, just learn to code a level editor for SSB.

We all want to mess randomly with SSB, but not enough to do it (Cheats/RAMhacking does not count XD)
And I'm with Sonic too.
hacking isn't a magic thing done for fun, it nedds a lot of effort and sacrifice.

Why must you put everyone down? When Mario Kart 64 came out I doubt anyone believed it would EVER be hacked as much as it is now (even though it's not that much), so why can't SSB be hacked? If someone sits down and spends a while doing it I'm sure they'll figure it out.

That's the problem. no one really wants to hack this game

Ha, yes, I suppose that is a problem, it's not a particularly good game anyway.

The problem is, even the more dedicated hackers just.. don't have the willpower to bother most of the time, and the guy who made this thread? Well he is most certainly new to the scene, and undertaking something like SSB would.. well, be more of a challenge and test of patience than I think he has. (Read: More than I think any newcomer would have.)

People need to start slow, and work their way up. And in this case, the people at the top just don't have the time nor the willpower to work it out, while the ones at the bottom just daydream and wish it would "happen."

In truth.. Hacking a N64 title isn't totally worthwhile. Not to say it would be fruitless, since if you do crack it; you have an already setup engine and genre at your hands to mold.. But.. Eh, you could probably do so much better with your time. There are very good 3D Engines out there right now for the PC, the Source and Unreal engines come to mind for example.. And in the short time it takes to learn them and what time it takes to code new events, etc.. You'd probably have your own game setup with limitless possibilities compared to all the time it took to hack some silly N64 title with severe limitations..

And yes, you could probably learn to make all your resources for the above mentioned in a similiar timeframe as it takes to deal with this kind of thing.. People usually don't have patience for THAT either, though, which just goes to show you how unlikely it is to begin with, huh? Yea, the fact any N64 hacking happened at all IS surprising, actually, and no one probably was expecting it to ever be hacked.. (Not reliably anyway.)

still... hacking SSB would be cool, but 3D is very hard, trying to hack that is dumb, especially if your a newb to it, thats why i stay away from that.

This thread was rated S (stupid) and has been approved for no audiences whatsoever.

Stop asking other people to do things and learn to do them on your own instead.
