It was pretty feh. I didn't really like it all that much. I mean, it had serious potential, but the directing wasn't so great and it all just dragged long. It probably would've been a good movie if there were three or so fewer characters and it was about an hour shorter than it actually was. I was really disappointed. I constantly wanted throughout the film for things to just move faster, but of course they never did. Once it hit the two-hour mark, I just wanted the fricking thing to end already.

Oh, and then some characters NEVER DID ANYTHING. It was frustrating. So much was lost on Lex's girlfriend and the kid. Sure, the kid can be in the sequel, but Lex's girlfriend just served no freaking purpose whatsoever. She only did two important things in the movie, and those easily could've been done by others. Apart from that, she just said stupid things. It was totally unbefitting of an assistant to Lex.

Honestly, Superman: Brainiac Attacks was much more entertaining.

I was borderline on wanting to see it... now you're shooing me away from it even more. To put it in perspective, I watched Xmen 3 twice in the past week in theatres and loved it. I couldn't really remember all that went on in the previous movies so yesterday I went out and bought them. Remembering that these were Bryan Singer movies as well... it seemed that there was a stark contrast in character and plot development between his movies and the third movie by Brett Ratner. i.e. the movie seemed drawn out and there really wasn't that much intensity in the film making. So yeah I can see Superman Returns being somewhat like that. Sorry to hijack it into an Xmen thread but there isn't one right now... I should make one.

I'll see this movie probably in the next week. Tell me, how was Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther... b/c that's really the only reason I wanted to see the movie. The only reason.

I couldn't really tell if he did a good job or not. Anything would look really good next to the acting of the people he associated with.

I saw this today. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't good, either. It had a fairly predictable plotline, complete with the villian capturing someone and giving away his plans. Your classic "Before I kill you, let tell you my genius plan for world domination...".

Other than that it was way to long, with surprisingly little content.

The acting was okay, although Spacy didn't seem to make a very good Lex. He just wasn't very menacing.

It was also somewhat derivative of, well, the Gospels. Or maybe that was just me.

I loved it.

...not for the plot or whatever (which I didn't think was bad) but just for the way it made me feel. I thought they did a good job of projecting that Superman represents Hope for mankind. I walked out of the movie thinking, "The world really does need a Superman."

I'll say the same thing I told my friends when we saw the preview: Another superhero movie?

I've just gotten tired of them, and so I certainly won't be seeing this one. That, and Superman is not at the top of my superhero list.

Knew it. I'd always had you pegged as the Ant-Man type.
