Hey, first of all, Im 100% aware of Nephi that prograam that edits the Dungeons. Anyways, I've been highly interested in hacking this game, and I was wondering if anyone had any documents or anything, especially for the Overworld, I know how to edit the warps in the overworld, and other things, but I just dont know how to edit the actual maps with hex, it's been driving me crazy. Dont think of this as a newb request, I just want to know how to edit those damn maps. Thanks. If anyone else has any other info, I'd love to hear it

Have you looked on Zophar, Datacrystal, and Romhacking.net yet?

The overworld is split into 2 banks, The first is at $24000 in the rom, and the second is at $68000. The first is for the first 128 screens, and the second is for the bottom 128. The format is the same as the dungeon, except that the DX version has tiles for each screen defined elsewhere(close to the second bank).

Nephi was supposed to get overworld editing, but Matrixz lost interest in the project. Maybe if he's still interested he could pick it up again. There are a few things to add, like full windows version, DX dungeon, overworld editing, text editing maybe.

Do you mean that the layout of tiles is stored there? Or the tileset?

In the regular game, the overworld is just made of objects like the dungeons. In the DX version, the objects are still there, but tiles are place on top of each screen which allows for more tiles to be used. This could allow for trees that actually don't exist, or invisible walls, or other secrets.

Yeah, thats really confusing. Thanks for your help Jigglysaint, but Im really trying to figure out where the actual objects are. (And you said theyre just like a dungeon). I know how to add invisible walls and crap like that, just dont know how to edit what objects actually are shown on the screen. If you knew where these were located, that would be a great help, I got alot of ideas for this hack, and would be nice to have a Zelda 4 hack actually completed.

The only thing I know is it's arround bank 68000 or arround there. The format is different than regular data, like one tile per square, but I never got that far figuring it out.
