Wind howled through the empty streets of Balrahn Way. For the fourth time that week.

The outskirts of the Whitegate had been abandoned yet again, and noise echoed around as armed soldiers rampaged through the streets, brandishing energy blades, assault rifles, anything blunt that could cause trauma, or otherwise anything that wasn't nailed down. In one big juxtaposition, a lawn chair sat tilted high in the decaying ramparts of the castle, a tall, slim man seated lazily in it. He stuck his finger out, spinning a large-bore, foot-long handcannon by the trigger. Next to him, a television-sized robot hovered on a glowing green booster.

Ultimanium : No rest for the wicked.

Minonim : They seem to be preparing for another attack, perhaps we should fly to the ne-

Ultimanium : *sigh* I said it once, and I'll say it again, the last time I tried to use Ki flight the guards tried to shoot me down. They tell you when you enter this is a no-fly zone, that's why we had to take that stupid-ass boat here, otherwise we could have gotten here in 5 minutes instead of 5 days.

Two guards in cobalt mithril armor could be seen tugging a map back and forth below.

Guard : Scouts tell us they're headed along the northeastern route. That's a change.

General : TROLLS! ETA 20 MINUTES!

Another soldier stumbled over.

Guard 2 : UNDEAD! ETA 15 MINUTES!

General : Wha?

Guard 3 : Orcs. I'd give them 10 minutes tops.

General : How do we-

Guard 4 : Intelligence indicates that pirates will be attempting a bombardment in... 5 minutes?

General : Bu-

Guard 5 : Killer robots inco-

Everyone steps aside as a 20-foot tall bipedal mech kicks the General through a wall.

Ultimanium : You know...

Minonim : Yes?

Ultimanium : I wish the brochure said I would be entering a civil war upon employment.

Minonim : Ah, you mean-

Ultimanium : Yeah.

A ragged pamphlet tumbled through the street as mercenaries began pouring out of their bunkers, a cloud of dust quickly consuming everything between where Ultimanium sat and the fortress gates less than 50 feet away.

((Hopefully someone else notices this thread ))

Traveling through the backroads in the city was a rather short and round creature, sitting atop what seemed to be a single wheeled motorcycle, with an eye on each side of the center of the wheel. It was sight to behold, as the creature looked completely out of place, and the motorcycle was.. well.. one wheeled!

"This is a fine locale I've wandered into..."

The pink creature was donned in a blue billed red cap and a yellow backpack. His body consisted of two flaps for arms, two red oval shaped feet, and a face that was full of life.

His companion was a living vehicle, a Rex Wheelie. Its body frame was quite bulky, atleast compared to Kirbynite, the creature riding on top. There were a few yellow stripes across the black frame, though, it was unsure if the jagged teeth in the front were real teeth or just an optical illusion formed by white paint. Whatever the case was, the thing could intimidate a guy or two.

"Man, what the heck is wrong with this city? No friendly faces.. Just a bunch of menacing things that don't look like they'd ever meet under normal circumstances..."

After a bit more of traveling, as quietly as the beastly motorcycle could, Kirbynite decided he should try questioning the first sign of life he could detect. Well, the first sign of life the Rex Wheelie could detect.

"Whoa, there, boy! Someone's nearby? I don't see... "

Kirby looked around. He couldn't see anything, except for the back of what seemed like a lawn chair an a huge cloud of dust. Maybe it won't hurt too much if he spoke up...

"Hey! Is someone out there? I don't mean to intrude or anything, I just want to know what's going on here!"

Ultimanium : Usually when I ask that question, people around here answer 'rush hour'.

Ultimanium squinted, swiveling his gun up and pointing it down into the fray. A deafening blast ripped out, striking the mech's leg and ripping a huge chunk of metal. It staggered for a moment, allowing nearby fighters to riddle its torso with gunfire.

Minonim : What he means to say is-

??? : What's going on here?

While Ultimanium unloaded a slug from his cannon, Minonim pivoted over. An even taller man stared at the three disgustedly, draped in shining red armor from which countless gold trinkets and jewelry dangled. His helmet was made from the same material, but ornate curves were carved into it, all leading to an emblem of a serpent on its front.

Gahlad : Commoners were told to evacuate minutes ago! What are you idiots doing here?!

Ultimanium : Oh, hey, hey. *digs in his pocket, dragging out a badge with two fish crossing in the center*

Gahlad : Oh god, not more of you people... how about the little one?

Minonim : Well, I...

Gahlad : I mean behind the... other little one.

Minonim : ...

Ultimanium : I think the hellos will have to wait a moment.

Gahlad and Ultimanium looked up just in time to see the robot vaulting off its three remaining limbs into the air above them. Gahlad leapt forward, tackling Ultimanium out of the way as it slammed its three remaining claws down into the sides of the walkway. Rock and dust flew everywhere as the rampart visibly buckled under the stress. Its head was now visible, and its blue eyes flashed for a moment before the barrels on its noticably large gauss gun on its side began to spin.

Ultimanium : Welcome to Whitegate sir, hope you remembered a weapon.

Kirbynite leapt off of his vehicle, quickly brandishing a pink and white striped rod, with a star on the tip. He quickly twirled the Star Rod and then slammed it into the ground.

Kirbynite: Cosmic Blanket Barrier!

A blue light shot up several stories, blasting out a gust of wind, spreading the dust even more. The light had prevented every shot from the robot's rotating cannon from reaching Kirbynite, Ultimanium, and the others.

Kirbynite: Alright, people. I want answers now. Tell me what's going on, or I'm going to drop this wall on the robot to show I mean business!

The robot tried to shake the sand out of its sensors, but stopped dead cold as a dull crack echoed out from under it. The hit to the ground was the last thing the stone rampart could handle, and the already weakened ground underneath the drone crumbled apart. It plunged a solid 30 feet to the ground below, the impact snapping its back left leg like a twig and totally disabling it. Ultimanium and Kirbynite were left on one side of the overhang - Gahlad and Minonim were left abandoned on the other.

Ultimanium : Er... if you say so.

Gahlad : This is getting far too dangerous for you to stay here! Both of you, head in that direction to the guard tower, and take the stairs to the basement! From there you can take the catacombs back to the rear of the Whitegate! I'll try to take care of your little machine here, I hope you have insurance on it whatever it is!

Minonim : I'm perfectly fi-

Ultimanium stepped back as a blast of energy struck the bridge where Minonim was, ripping it to pieces and utterly destroying the droid.

Ultimanium : ...okay, we're gonna have to split, if we take the catacombs we can get back to the commercial sector. Everything there will be locked down at the moment, but we'll be able to talk without anyone shooting at us. I imagine there'll be other people there too, WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE.

Before Kirbynite and Ultimanium could go anywhere, though, a bright flash of white light occurred several feet away, coinciding with a fairly loud proclamation of...

"-YOU ASS!"

Where the flash had occurred there now stood what APPEARED to be a boy in his very early teens (if that) wearing an odd armor of sorts with dark green parts and light, yellowish green parts. There were also orangish gold accents on certain parts, and he was wearing a green helmet with black shades, and a large orangish gold "V" attached to the front. He was facing away from everyone at an odd angle, and didn't seem to be moving.

?????: Um... Hello? A little help? I can't move...

Kirbynite held out an arm, and immediately materialized the Star Rod he had jammed into the ground earlier.

Kirbynite: That was definitely a waste of flashyness.. Hey! You there! You look like a palette swapped robot of the Megaman line! Oh no.. if that's the case...

The little pink creature pointed the Star Rod directly at the newcomer... even though the person in green's back was turned towards Kirby...

Kirbynite: Don't move! Who are you, and who was your last programmer?

Ultimanium : Why certainly.

Ultimanium walked up behind the armored boy, tipping him over and catching him by the shoulders. Slowly he began dragging him to the tower entrance a short ways away. The boots of the armor dug visible ruts into the fortified floor.

Ultimanium : Don't just stand there, gimme a hand, I'd like to get out of here before WE get shot at, instead of the ground we're standing on.

Kirbynite: Dunno if I'd help much, you know, with me being so short.. but.. Oh! Rexy! Come on over here!

A very large star-shaped object zoomed right past Ultimanium and Quint. Kirbynite hopped up and smacked the star, revealing the same beastly motorcycle he was riding on earlier.

Kirbynite: Help 'em out. You're the one with raw power between us two.

The single wheeled motorcycle slowly approached Ultimanium. Kirbynite lifted Quint's legs and hoisted them ontop of the Rex Wheelie.

Kirbynite: That should help out a bit! As long as you don't bolt forward in an alarming rate, ol' Rexy here should be able to keep up. Now... About this tower entrance...

The three lumbered along, crossfire conveniently destroying increasingly larger chunks of the walkway behind them. Eventually they crept inside, and with some repositioning, jiggery, and a lot of cursing from Ultimanium, began to scale down a set of stairs that disappeared far into the ground below. As they finally submerged, the tower collapsed with a loud pooomph.

A long winding tunnel eventually ended at a worn, rusted door. With some more swearing Ultimanium was able to pivot himself around, kicking the hatch and sending it flying off its hinges. He reemerged into sunlight, wheezing as he slowly set his end of their passenger down.

They were in the port area of the commercial sector. True to emergency warnings, the entire area was barren, abandoned shops and stalls all around. At the actual pier, a small passenger ship sat half-rigged. The Whitegate shared the same dull, sandstone construction as the bastion.

Ultimanium : Upstairs. Over there.

The door of a restaraunt-sized complex ont he upper level waved weakly in the breeze, directly adjacent to a flight of stairs.

Quint: Yeah... Upstairs... ...You know, if either of you have any technical knowledge it'd be nice if you could, you know, fix me. Near as I can tell there's nothing wrong with my mechanical parts, so it's got to be something in the circuitry or wiring. If I'm lucky something's just become disconnected.

Kirbynite: Me? Oh, I barely know anything from PopStar's Technologics in primary school... Oh! But I do have a mechanic ability that might help out!

Kirbynite swung his backpack around, opened it up. He started sifting through the items, pulling out random things like a watermelon, a helmet, and a toothbrush. Eventually, he pulled out a jar that had a small star-shaped gem inside of it.

Kirbynite: Down the hatch!

He opened the jar up and sucked the star out. A moment later, he sprouted a long, bushy mustache, and a mechanical device over one eye. He also pulled out a toolbox out of nowhere.

Kirbynite: Alright! Und vat is ze problem? Oh, that's right, you said possible internal wiring... Guess I'll start from that nasty gash in the back.

The little round creature hopped on Quint's back and quickly began working.

Kirbynite: It shouldn't take me more than a few minutes, from what I've scanned.

OOC: It's not too late to join in, is it?

The city was dead ahead, coming up quickly. Snipes, having spent the last few weeks travelling in the back country, was more than pleased to see civilisation again, especially after having to fly across open sea. At least until three bullets whizzed past his head. Ducking over to the right, Snipes cursed.

"Shit... Why did it HAVE to be the only city in who-knows-how-long away that's in the middle of some sort of battle?!"

After dodging a few more shots, Snipes flew around the perimeter of the city, flying away from the fighting without being seen. Eventually, Snipes cam eupon the port area of the city, which seemed deserted. Landing, Snipes waited for a moment to catch his breath, then looked around. One of the buildings seemed somewhat like a restaurant or maybe a tourist information center. Ducking into the building, Snipes looked around and saw a staircase in the building. Running up it fairly noisily, Snipes began looking around for any information as to where he was, when he heard voices above him.

A short fat man, with a head full of moppy brown hair and dressed in grubby mechanic's overalls, zipped in front of Snipes before he could come to a full stop. The stairway had ended in an old home, which had been haphazardly converted to office space. The floorboards were nearly ruined, pictures hung tilted on the walls, and another man could be sitting at a desk with stacks of papers that nearly touched the ceiling. A wall had been torn out and a large folding screen replaced it, hiding another workspace.

Biggs : W-welcome sir, this happens t-t-to be the s-southern branch office of-f the... Salahri... Salaheed... Sala...

??? : SALAHEEM, DOUCHEBAG

Biggs turned his head to the woman's voice behind the curtain.

Biggs : ...er, yes, Salaheem's Sentinels. If you're re-re-questing employment, we do happen to have r-registration forms available... our c-copier broke down so some people never got theirs yesterday, but I that's n-not the point...

??? : Hold up on that, there's some noise going on downstairs... maybe it's casualties or something... or maybe we might have a fresh new batch of peons. Cross your fingers.

Biggs : *bows* I-I'm sorry sir, could you have a seat for a minute... *gestures to a torn leather seat with springs sticking out of it* I'll be with you in j-just a moment...

Snipes didn't have much of a chance to respond as Biggs disappeared in a flash behind the curtain.

Uhhh.... right.

Sitting down, Snipes suspected the fat man was so nervous because of the fighting. Ah, what would he think when he found out Snipes was only wondering where he was..?
