No, I meant people who did that with an average of 5-10 words a reply.

Which may or may not refer to people in this thread.

Limits suck because there needs to be exceptions and there is no fair way to allow exceptions...

okay, that seems out of place, but at the same time, sort of related to the topic at hand...

There should only be a limit if people spam in a thread, but if someone ACTUALLY ADDS INFO, like answering questions in a thread about a hack, there should be exceptions.
But that's just my puny opinion

I remember when Acmlm checked for the average number of chracthers per post at the old Acmlm board back in 2003. I was just slightly above or below Melvin... I don't remember. He was comparing me with him anyway, as Melvin had a huge spree, and did wind up being banned at 9999. xD

Xk needs to make a script like that. It's not a perfect representation, mind you, but it would probably be a good tool to figure out who the best posters are or who's just so frigging wordy all the time.

Techinally, everyone CAN be good posters so I donīt know if thatīd be such a good idea.

But Iīm not the one to decide that.

Oh, they CAN be. The problem is that not everyone who's told to improve... well... improves. :\ Or people just can't be bothered to learn proper spelling/type "you" instead of "u".

Maybe you should start with 100 points.
Deduct a set number of points for each typo or syntax (l33t speak).
Then see how many flaws they have made!

Technically he could check by making a quick MYSQL command.

Thought, true. It's more convienant for us end-users if there was a finished script that did that. Though becuse you have a high overall dosen't mean you're a good poster still.

And then create a .php page for said command, yes.

High overall would PROBABLY mean a good poster because it would show that said person puts a lot of thought into their posts or stops to explain things. Or they just like the English language.

Typos can be made by the best typers in the world if theyīre typing fast.

Even if you know how to spell correctly, you still make typos.

I seen alot of lengthy posts with crappy content. So there's expections to that rule! Besides, people who post really large posts at times (Such as the ACS results) would skew with the results a little.

Well, at least if someone took time to talk about an opinion, even if it's a bad one... it's better than just saying "stupid Bush" or something like that.

stupid bush--there is a big organization today around universities for Bush's State of the Union speech later today... Bush most likely will say that everything is okay

Anyways, posting habits could be worse...

Actually, he said that America was addicted to foreign oil.

Granted, he justified the statement, but I thought that was an ironic little thing to say.

I tried to listen to it, but it was mostly static and the stuff I heard was so patrotic that it made me ill.

Yeah, I can't stand patrioism very well. Swedish people are like that.

Besides, his statement about being addicted to foreign oil, well it would only add to the prejudice certain Europeans have about US being a oil-hungry, car-loving, polluting monster.

Grah, I wish it had subtitles at least...

But that's the point of the State of the Union address. To be patriotic. Really doesn't mean anything to me but you don't go out and talk about how America's falling apart at the seams. :\

I think I like the fact that he admits they're addicted to foreign oil, yet WHAT was one of the accusations made against the US going into Iraq? OIL.

Well, when the oil eventually runs out (Or at least, get's much more expensive than today) then it would be quite intresting to see what happens.

This reminds me how I love to destroy the oil wells in Civ IV by spies or by raw power. No oil = no tanks. In reality, people would just find alternative energy. Like... you can make oil with coal, although I think it was a rather expensive way.

Which is why I hope to god they aren't lying when they say we will soon have the technology to have cars that don't run on gasoline.
I've heard corn oil works... fiction or fact?
